Affordable STEM programmes at welcoming Midway University

In the US alone, employment in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) companies is expected to grow 10.8% by 2032, with more than 11,400 professional positions waiting to be filled. Knowing that these numbers will only increase annually, the best universities nationwide are reworking their curriculum to prepare students, with Midway University taking the lead by offering career-focused STEM programmes.

Undergraduates can choose to major in either Biology, Computer Science, or Mathematics, while postgraduates can pursue the Master of Management Information Systems. Whichever you choose, you’ll benefit from a 15:1 student-to-faculty ratio, a location in the centre of Kentucky’s internationally renowned horse country, the many things to do in this quaint, historic town, lower tuition rates, and scholarships.

Midway University is one of the most affordable private universities in Kentucky and the region. Resources for financial aid are plenty too. Take its scholarship programmes, for example. Each year, over 90% of Midway University’s students participate in its comprehensive programme, ranking from merit scholarship opportunities to athletic, talent, and need-based scholarships.

Those from outside of the US can apply for the International Welcome Scholarship. This scholarship grants US$2000 to international students on an F-1 student visa to ease their move to a new home.

Bachelor of Science in Biology

The BSc in Biology offers a strong foundation with research woven into the curriculum, preparing students for their future careers. The curriculum covers zoology, ecology, evolution, microbiology, genetics, and molecular biology. Those who want to advance their education to a professional degree can follow the pre-professional programme, which includes modules related to medical, dental, pharmacy, physical and occupational therapy, and veterinary sciences. Through hands-on experiences, as well as classroom activities, you will gain field, analytical, and practical skills that will prepare them for diverse entry-level positions in biology-related areas.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

BSc in Computer Science students build skills and master techniques to solve a wide variety of field-related problems. Whether programming, designing user interfaces, managing networks, building databases, or keeping data and information secure, this degree not only prepares you to secure a professional role but also to grow, learn, and adapt to new opportunities within the growing sector. Past graduates have landed roles such as computer network architects, computer programmers, computer support specialists, database administrators, software developers, and web developers and digital designers in various tech companies.

Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics

If you prefer logical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis that revolve around numbers, a BA in Mathematics would be a suitable choice. Here, you will apply critical thinking skills to mathematical concepts necessary to join fields such as actuarial science, engineering, operations research, data processing, computer science, and education. What you learn can also be applied in less traditional fields, such as banking, law, and economics.

“The professors truly care about their students. They want us to succeed even when we do not think we can do it ourselves,” student Erin McQueen says. “They encourage us to do our best and they use real-world examples so we can see that connection, which is crucial.”

Master of Management Information Systems (MMIS)

The MMIS programme shapes you to become a strategic leader with the competency and flexibility to thrive in today’s rapidly changing and competitive IT industry. “With a focus on adaptability and competency, our programme prepares students to navigate the rapidly changing IT environment,” Dean of the School of Business, Equine, and Sport Studies, Professor Mark Gill says. “Our courses emphasise real-world applications, ensuring you are not just theory-rich but also ready to tackle practical challenges in the field.”
