Mälardalen University: Education that leads to employment

Known for its serene natural landscapes and cultural diversity, many international learners label Sweden a supreme study destination.

One such university that embraces its educational heritage and striking surroundings is Mälardalen University (MDH). As a modern institution at the heart of society, MDH steers students through a vast range of study programmes and valuable research activities.

Think creatively and critically

Mälardalen will motivate you to establish a growth mindset so you can explore all avenues of education. With prime access to interdisciplinary courses, MDH graduates thrive in an often complex labour market.

Validated by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education, statistics show that as many as 81 percent of MDH students find a job in their area of expertise, within one year of finishing their degree, leaving you ready to dive straight into your profession of choice.

The university offers a variety of international study programmes and teaches them in English, so you won’t have to worry about misleading lectures or misunderstanding the syllabus due to a language barrier. MDH welcomes learners from all corners of the globe and ensures there’s a fluid flow of communication throughout lessons.

During your studies, you’ll discover all the resources required to get ahead of competition. Through the introductory video for international students, you’ll be made aware of the dynamic facilities available such as the Student Centre and the Career Plaza.

Experience EPAS accredited programmes

Granted the exclusive EPAS accreditation for the Bachelor’s programme in International Business Management and the Master’s programme in International Marketing, MDH acquired international recognition for their high-quality courses.

Acting as an international accreditation system that evaluates business programmes at Business and Master’s levels, the EPAS review is carried out by the European Foundation for Management Development organisation (EFMD).

As Thomas Wahl, MDH Dean of the School of Business, Society and Engineering explains, “I am extremely proud of the incredible work that many colleagues at the school performed. This is a confirmation of our work and high-quality education. As International students often rely on rankings and accreditation. I believe that we will see an increased interest in these programmes in the coming years.”

Despite passing their assessment with flying colours, Mälardalen University will continue to develop and improve all their courses to maintain impressive international academic standards.

Foster a culture of innovation

Mälardalen University wants to tackle as many social issues as possible. That’s why their research is spilt into six main specialisations.

For research focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy and emission mitigation, there’s the Future Energy Center. As one of Sweden’s strongest environments in process optimisation, innovative solutions are built in this space.

To analyse the relationship between health and welfare, research activities at MDH are split into three core subjects; equity and participation, research for value and cooperation. And for the everchanging world of computer science, the university investigates embedded systems development and the role it plays in the world.

With regards to economic sciences, Mälardalen University has employed 48 researchers and professors to unravel the effects of radical industrial renewal and has an IEO Research School set up to promote ongoing projects.

In support of the university’s goals for sustainable future development, there’s a research department dedicated to innovation and product realisation (IPR). Adopting a multidisciplinary approach throughout its explorative efforts, the IPR community covers all areas of the topic.

The final research area that the MDH team covers is educational sciences and mathematics. With resource-rich expertise, the university utilises findings to create an innovative learning environment.

Cooperate with global companies

As a university where cooperation and collaboration are central values, MDH has constructed an incredible network of local and global companies over the years.

You might be wondering, how does this network work in my favour? Well, by cooperating with international businesses and nearby organisations, the university provides you with a prosperous gateway into potential internships and possible employment opportunities.

The university also runs a myriad of cooperative projects to help boost your potential. For instance, The Social Contract focuses on the workforce of the future and maintains strong relationships between MDH and stakeholder in the public sector. And the business incubator Idélab encourages you to make use of your knowledge so you can transform your designs into reality.

Recently, Master’s student Vasja Çollaku received the Mälardalen University Global Swede Award for 2018. As she states, “It’s a great feeling when the university appreciates and recognises your academic, entrepreneurial and innovative efforts. For me, it strengthens the connection between the students and the university as it shows that nothing goes unnoticed at MDH.”

Develop yourself and the future

At Mälardalen University, you decide who to become. With accommodation set close to campus, strategic partnerships with companies and contemporary methods of teaching, you’ll have a stable foundation of resources to work with.

A fundamental factor in your study journey at MDH is your future success. To stand out from other forward-thinking institutions, the university exposes students to contract education courses such as the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme. Through these added extras, your academic portfolio will overflow with experience.

Another genius tactic that the university uses to advocate your career-ready skills is the Degree Project Pool. By writing your course project at a company, you’ll create a unique connection with local employers, which may lead to a job!

With an education that leads to employment and a community of visionaries that motivate you to learn, Mälardalen University (MDH) is the place to plan your future.
