Your business success begins at Brock University

An MBA from Brock University helps students chart their own path to success. Just ask those studying at the Goodman School of Business, who are equipped with the academic knowledge, real-world experience and confidence to advance their careers and make a lasting impact. Abhishek Jaiswal, a second-year Finance MBA student, can attest to this.

“The Goodman School of Business has been a transformative and invaluable experience. I was equipped with the tools needed to succeed in today’s competitive market,” he says. “It has prepared me to make a meaningful impact in my career and has been a crucial step in my journey toward success.”

Stories like Jaiswal’s are a testament to the exceptional education offered at Goodman. As a globally oriented business school with international accreditation by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), this puts Goodman among the top 5% of business schools in the world to receive this recognition. Here, you’ll thrive with a quality business education set in Canada, one of the world’s most ethnically diverse and hospitable countries to live, study and work in.

An MBA that stands out

The Goodman MBA ensures you emerge with the acumen needed for a successful career in business and beyond. For 16 months, you’ll be part of an ambitious, diverse cohort that brings a wide range of international insights, cultures and professional experiences. With their insights and the expertise of many celebrated faculty members, you’ll have the sharpened ability to navigate ever-changing challenges across borders.

More factors set the MBA apart. From the start, it’s a program designed to be flexible and customizable, catering to the needs of both local and international students. To strengthen your knowledge and expand your career opportunities, you can choose between six specializations in your third semester, with options for accounting, business analytics, finance, human resource management, marketing and operations management. Alternatively, you can opt for the general MBA, which still enables you to take courses that fit your career aspirations.

Another key factor is just how practical the program is. Goodman students learn best by doing, and for the MBA, this hands-on approach is at the heart of the School’s philosophy.

“With hands-on projects and collaborative case studies, Goodman provides a supportive environment that constantly challenges and inspires,” says Jaiswal. “You’ll have a dedicated faculty of industry experts and professionals who offer guidance and mentorship in and out of the classroom.”

Indeed, Goodman is a proud leader of experiential learning. During classes, you’ll work on practical projects with community partners, acting as consultants and helping them develop solutions to complex organizational challenges. You may also be part of a team to run search engine optimization (SEO) campaigns, break down budgets or develop social media strategies. These build your resumé and pad your professional network.

“Goodman’s use of experiential education helps students apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to real problems,” says Dr. Kai-Yu Wang, Professor of Marketing. “These opportunities give students the chance to connect textbook knowledge to day-to-day business activities. Our grads enter the job market confidently because they already have experience in their field, which sets them ahead.”

Outside the classroom, you’ll have access to numerous Goodman clubs and associations. As you connect with your peers or meet those from other programs and industries, you’ll have another avenue to broaden your network and enhance all you’ve learnt. For example, the Graduate Business Council helps organize intercollegiate business competitions, social events, professional networking events, community outreach programs and other training avenues which are great for graduate students to meet other passionate individuals and build foundational leadership skills. Have a niche interest? You can start your own club – fresh ideas are always welcome.

Promising career outcomes

The Goodman MBA is designed to help its students excel in their careers.

The program includes a four-month co-op opportunity upon course completion. You’ll have access to a combination of integrated career development coaching and short-term work opportunities within Canada. This is when you can explore paid work options in Canada and take up integral roles at large organizations such as Apotex, Hydro One Inc., Mercedes-Benz Financial, the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and more.

“The MBA program has been an enriching experience that not only helped build my subject matter expertise but also developed me as a young professional entering the job market,” says Deeya Chhabra, an MBA graduate. “I recommend students get involved as much as possible. There are multiple opportunities available – you just need to grab them and make the best out of them to help foster your experience and skills.”

Goodman’s support extends beyond graduation. All alumni have access to career services and can discover work opportunities via the CareerZone job board up to a year upon graduation. Career services include consulting and coaching, as well as resumé or LinkedIn reviews. You’ll also be a part of the School’s growing network of more than 17,000 alumni and can join the Goodman Alumni Network on LinkedIn. The best part? These perks are indefinite – you’ll be part of the Goodman community for life.
