WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management has a master’s for every future leader

Choosing your master’s degree is a big step, and it’s normal to wonder: Should I choose a specialisation to stand out? Will a general programme seem less impressive to employers? Could the wrong choice limit my opportunities later?

In Germany, you’ll find a business school that helps ease these concerns: WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. WHU offers a future-focused approach to business education. With programmes designed for early career professionals and seasoned executives, it offers a learning path that grows right alongside your ambitions.

Specialise or explore, WHU helps you thrive either way

Whether you choose to specialise or take a general management route, WHU’s master’s programmes will help you make an impact in the business world. Location is what makes WHU stand out. The Finance programme is located in Düsseldorf, with others situated in Vallendar, which provides an option between a tight-knit community in a beautiful region and an urban campus feel in one of Europe’s financial hubs.

The Master in Business Analytics is for those who are fascinated by data and want to connect analytics with real business value. “I appreciate the emphasis on group work and case studies, which immediately let us apply learned concepts,” says student Jan-Bernd Hagemann. “The learning environment fosters technical and business skills, making it an ideal programme for anyone looking to excel in data-driven business roles.”

If finance is where you see your future, the Master in Finance helps you break into careers in investment banking, consulting, fintech, asset management, or even senior leadership roles like CFO. Interested in entrepreneurship? WHU has produced 15 unicorn founders and over 2,400 alumni-founded companies; with the Master in Entrepreneurship, you can become part of that fast-growing community.

There are three general management programmes too. The Master in International Business gets you into internships with leading firms — and you don’t even need a business background to get started. Plus, fresh graduates earn an average salary of US$77,218, so it’s no surprise graduate Yizhu Wang calls it the best decision ever made.

“Immensely grateful for this transformative journey at WHU,” she says. “I secured my International Marketing internship at Henkel, marking the start of my career in Germany, and am now completing a Brand Management Internship at Procter & Gamble.”

The Master in Management is another option. You can explore various areas, including business analytics, economics, financial accounting, and innovation. It even comes with a part-time option if you need more flexibility.

Grow worldwide

WHU master’s programmes include a one-week Capstone Module (for a 90-credit programme) or a semester abroad (for a 120-credit programme) at one of 200+ partner universities across over 40 countries. It’s all part of the school’s mission for “Excellence in Management Education.”

This pairs well with its emphasis on your growth. ChatGPT Edu is built into courses, research, and campus operations to prepare you for a future shaped by AI. “This is a major investment in our students’ future and the future of WHU as an institution,” says Dr. Toni Calabretti, Chairman of the WHU Foundation.

Then there’s the Career Center, which has helped 92% of master’s students secure a job within three months of graduating. “Throughout my studies, the Career Centre served as the central point of contact for all questions related to applications, CVs, prior students’ experiences and career counselling,” says graduate Julius Cheung. “The wide range of events gave me insights into various industries and helped me figure out my interests. The team’s broad expertise and wide network very much facilitated my career entry after graduation.”

Supporting this is the WHU Entrepreneurship Center, which connects founders, investors, student initiatives, and faculty through initiatives such as the WHU Accelerator and Co-Founder Matching.

Once you graduate, the support continues. You’ll join In Praxi, WHU’s global alumni community of more than 7,500 entrepreneurs and business leaders. Members include figures like Elif Kocaoglu Ulbrich, who founded a consultancy firm specialising in fintech, legal tech, and technology marketplaces, and is an accomplished author and columnist.
