Internationally-recognised for its stylish waterfront campus, the University of Suffolk merges education with sophistication to create a modern study space.

By focusing on the ever-changing needs of our global society, University of Suffolk learners are always up-to-date with the latest trends and industry requirements. Powered by a contemporary approach to teaching, you’ll receive knowledge from a cutting-edge curriculum and expert academics.

A university for a changing world

Life as an international student at the University of Suffolk is an extraordinary experience. Rather than sticking to rigid academic traditions, this institution brings learning to life.

As the University of Suffolk explains, “We are a distinctive, thriving academic community which makes a clear and immediate impact. Our purpose is to change lives – of individuals and communities – for the better. In a world where nothing ever stays the same, we all need to change, evolve, succeed and change again.”

As a transformational university, Suffolk’s student satisfaction scores are consistently high (NSS 2017) and graduate prospects are bright. Its inclusive campus atmosphere bursts with community spirit and beyond the classroom walls, there’s a unique balance of historic and cultural hotspots to explore.

With a low cost of living and valuable transport links to Cambridge, London and the rest of the UK, it’s the ideal location for an affordable academic adventure. That’s why the sunny county of Suffolk is a prime study destination.

Just like many other international students, Chitra Gunawan from Indonesia is very happy with her decision to study at Suffolk. “It’s relaxed here, Ipswich is like my second home and I’ve recently become Chair of the multicultural society, set up for students so that they have friends here to support them. So, if you’re considering the University of Suffolk, don’t be afraid to explore and just go for it!”

Boost your Business and Management skills with the IFP

Before you pursue an undergraduate business degree at the University of Suffolk, you might need extra time to prepare and the opportunity to enhance your knowledge of key management skills and processes.

Through the eight-month International Foundation Programme (IFP) (Business and Management) – offered at the affordable price of £8,000 (Jan-Aug) – you’ll level-up your understanding of the subject and consider various styles of accounting, finance, marketing and project management. Also, with the support of a multidimensional syllabus and industry professionals, there will be an extensive range of group seminars, informative lectures and individual tutorials for you to attend.

What’s incredible about the IFP programme is that once you complete it in August, meeting all set end requirements, you’ll be guaranteed progression onto one of the undergraduate business degrees at the established Suffolk Business School.

If you’re interested in the IFP at the University of Suffolk but need more time to improve your English, you can opt to pursue the International Foundation Programme (Business and Management) Extended pathway. Lasting for 11 months from October to August, you can take your business expertise even further. Plus, with a pre-sessional English component, this is the perfect preliminary route to take for students with lower-level English ability – and for only £10,500!

Secure your career in Science with the IFP

If you’re an ambitious science student, before you dive straight into the University of Suffolk’s niche array of undergraduate courses, you may want to apply for the January 2019 International Foundation Programme (Science) intake.

The International Foundation Programme helps build your confidence, so you’ll feel ready to take the next step in your study journey. With the specialised science IFP, you’ll learn about biology, physiology, biochemistry and the role of biophysics in the 21st-century world.

Through the in-depth exploration of human health and wellbeing, strategic seminars and one-to-one sessions, you’ll put your critical thinking skills to good use. In relation to professional progression, by meeting the end targets of this programme you’ll be guaranteed a spot on a School of Science, Technology and Engineering undergraduate course, or guaranteed an interview for one of the undergraduate courses within the School of Health Sciences.

To expand your learning potential, there’s also the International Foundation Programme (Science) Extended study route. From October to August (11 months), you could be finding out even more about the field and enhance your communication skills with the pre-sessional English component.

Due to the accessibility of the University of Suffolk’s International Foundation Programmes, students have the freedom to prepare for their future at an affordable rate.

Suffolk’s secret for graduate success

There are many secrets to the success of Suffolk graduates. With competitive tuition fees and international scholarships, the university welcomes students from around the world.

To help new students settle into Suffolk life, the campus is compact and close to the wonderful waterfront marina. Additionally, the new Athena Hall accommodation allows the University to provide a safe and secure living environment.

Another core factor to the undeniable employment success of graduates is the university’s practice-based education and excellent relationships with business and employers. With 95 percent of graduates in employment or further study six months after graduation (DLHE 2017), Suffolk’s career-driven courses help you effectively fulfil your career aspirations.
