Fresh graduates in the fields of finance, tech, and data should be pleased to know that they could work their way up to some of the best jobs in the UK.

Jobs site Glassdoor released its latest list of the UK’s top 25 jobs this week, which is based on job satisfaction, earning potential, and the number of vacancies available.

Finance managers top the list, with a median salary of £68,000 and a job satisfaction rating of 3.7 out of 5.

The position, which was previously #2 in the 2016 and 2015 lists, has unseated last year’s #1, business development manager, which has dropped off the list altogether this year.

Tax manager was second (£59,000), followed by design manager (£55,000), audit manager (£59,500), and human resources manager (£50,000) to round up the top five.

Dr Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor’s chief economist, said: “This report reinforces that the best jobs are highly-skilled and are staying ahead of the growing trend toward workplace automation. The finance and tech industries are well represented on this list, both of which the UK is renowned for.

He added that for tech jobs in particular, companies across all industries are hiring workers for the much-needed positions.

“Any organisation today with a mobile app, web presence, or digitised data are struggling to fill positions like data scientists, solutions architect, and mobile developers.”

Many of these jobs – such as tax manager, HR manager, commercial manager, and marketing manager – can be performed in a variety of sectors, showing the versatility of these roles. While the role of finance manager offers the highest median annual base salary, the job with the highest satisfaction rating is scrum master (described as a “facilitator for a development team”), at 4.4 out of 5.
