Differentiating yourself from the crowd can be difficult in today’s increasingly competitive job market. Choosing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) course will set you on the path to success, providing you with the necessary skills and qualifications to boost your business career.
Jack Welch College of Business at Sacred Heart University Luxembourg offers a unique 16-month MBA, which includes a six- to nine-month paid internship, giving participants the chance to connect with key industry contacts and gain invaluable experience while simultaneously achieving their academic goals.
This AACSB-accredited, globally-recognized degree includes an individual mentoring program and personal coaching support, encouraging a professional mindset ready for the European job market post-graduation.
Over 25 years of a strong local network of industry relationships and more than 600 alumni provide SHU Luxembourg students with a range of post-graduation opportunities, with notable alumni including the Executive Director of Artelis, the CEO of Xstream, the Marketing Manager for USA/Canada at ExxonMobil, the Chairman of British Steel, and the CEO of Luxaviation Helicopters.
The program has a cross-disciplinary core, and groups of students work towards the success and expansion of a real company, exploring how product planning, financing, marketing, accounting, production and management are all important cogs in the running of a business.
A truly international location, Luxembourg draws interest and visitors from around the globe. Home to some of the world’s and Europe’s most important institutions – including the European Court of Justice and the European Investment Bank – Luxembourg has established itself as an international hub for business. The opportunities available to young people here are exceptional, with big companies ready to jump at the opportunity to hire the next generation of business leaders and experts.
Aside from business opportunities, the small size and central location of Luxembourg gives students the chance to explore and discover neighbouring countries like France, Belgium and Germany. Quick and efficient travel networks make for easy weekend trips to nearby cities, while there are also accessible links to places further afield such as the Netherlands and Switzerland.
“What I like most about Luxembourg is the diversity,” notes Gabriel Ristow Cidral, an MBA with Internship graduate. “It’s really a melting pot, you find people from everywhere, all parts of the world.”
Gabriel began as a trainee with PwC in Luxembourg as part of his MBA internship program, quickly receiving an offer to become a full-time employee as a market analyst in the research team before even graduating.
He describes how studying at Sacred Heart helped secure his professional role: “SHU is doing a great job approaching companies, very interesting and fast-growing ones, for instance PwC, Amazon and Vodafone for MBA students to do an internship. I believe that my MBA really supported me in taking this first step. Secondly, most of the courses I took were in finance and I can really see how I applied this to knowledge in real life, and in practice.”
A hands-on learning experience is encouraged at Sacred Heart, which endeavours to educate students on the global marketplace. Intercultural exchange and state-of-the-art technologies enable students based in either Europe or the US to learn and interact in the current industry market, as well as from and with each other throughout the program.
The option to add courses in the US on Sacred Heart’s main campus in Fairfield, Connecticut, US, (located about one hour away from New York City) is a possibility as well. Graduate certificates in Accounting, Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Global Investments, International Business, Leadership and Marketing are available for professional post-baccalaureate study.
At the heart of the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology is the desire to foster a continuous and inquisitive learning community, rooted in intellectual traditions, ethics and values. International and highly-accolated faculty are dedicated to providing encompassing business knowledge and appropriate skills, ready to achieve their personal and professional goals in the business world post-graduation.
Admission requirements for the MBA with internship program include a Bachelor’s degree with a grade point average equivalent to a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; a GMAT score of minimum 500; and proof of English proficiency. Deadlines for this year’s intake are 1 June 2019 for EU/EEA applicants, and 1 March 2019 for non-EU/EEA applicants.
“SHU graduates lead with empathy, drive, integrity and courage,” says Academic Director, Dr. Alfred Steinherr. “They possess the determination and know-how to create organizations that are at once more collaborative, more competitive, more durable, and more innovative. They are committed to leveraging the power of business to make a positive difference in the world.”
