Under the “International Research Scholarship” scheme by the University of New South Wales, this is possible. UNSW is ranked #45 in the latest QS World University Ranking, a testament to its high-quality teaching and research output.
It is now offering three types of research master’s or PhD scholarships in Australia for international students. Let’s explore them in more detail below:
Three master’s and PhD scholarships in Australia by UNSW: Must-know details
Australian Government Research Training Programme (RTP) Scholarship
If you apply for the Australian Government Research Training Programme (RTP) scholarship, you could stand to receive 28,854 Australian dollars per year from the Australian government.
Besides having your tuition fees fully waived, you will receive Australia’s standard health insurance plan for international students: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This scholarship will cover your PhD studies for three and a half years and master’s studies for two years. You may pursue any field of study with this scholarship.
University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA)
Recipients of this award are entitled to similar benefits given to RTP scholars with the exception of the OSHC plan. The University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA) is funded by UNSW itself.
Under this award, you may pursue any field of study at the PhD level. This scholarship will cover your PhD studies for three and a half years and master’s studies for two years.
Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) plus a Research Stipend
This scholarship is valued at A$28,854 per annum per year. Scholars will get an additional stipend funded by an UNSW faculty, school or supervisor.
Like the other two scholarships, you may pursue any field of study at the PhD level (lasting three in a half years) or at the research master’s level (which typically lasts two years).
How to submit your application
If you feel you have what it takes to qualify for the above scholarships, simply highlight the fact that you would like to be considered for a UNSW scholarship on your application for admission to a programme. Then, select your preferred application round. Applicants to this scholarship are recommended to discuss potential stipend funding with their supervisor.
