How to get an American education without leaving home

Many parents of American Learning Academy students could not be happier. From never even contemplating the idea of enrolling her children in an online school to now describing it as “impressive,” it’s been a transformative journey for one parent.

“The American Learning Academy has been life-changing for our family,” Vanessa enthuses.

For several years, Vanessa has been struggling with her son’s grades and attendance. Whether it was private or public school, it just wasn’t working. It was time to try something different. Convinced by their curriculum, she enrolled her son in American Learning Academy.

Today, she couldn’t be more satisfied. “We just finished our eighth month. During that time period, he completed the 11th grade, which we are very excited about,” she shares. “We’re ready to see what senior year has to offer and the new potentials following that.”

There are many reasons for Vanessa to be happy. Her son’s grades have “dramatically improved.” As many parents would know, this is a big deal, as their child can then move to the next level in their lives. He finds the curriculum challenging, interactive and engaging.

“What we found really unique about American Learning Academy is he gets a lot of one-on-one interaction with his teachers,” she explains, “If he’s ever struggling with something, or needs a little bit more help with one of the assignments, he’s able to have a Skype session with his teacher where it is just him and the teacher.”

Many features set the academy above and apart from other private schools. Start with the fact that it offers an authentic and exciting American education without students having to leave home. They can earn both their home country’s diploma, while earning the American diploma — a tech-focused, character-building, and English-improving experience that gives them a clear edge in the 21st century.

Such an option was not available in the past. International families would have had to live in the US or send their children to a boarding school, where annual tuition currently averages US$57,000 according to Boarding School Review (as of Oct. 14, 2019).

With the academy’s online structure, a US high school diploma is only a fraction of the cost. There’s no need to go through complex visa processes, long flights, longer airport queues or worrying about children being thousands of miles away. Athletic, artistic or other life passions can go on. The academy’s over 500 courses fit the student, not the other way around. All you need is an Internet connection and your child can earn that US high school diploma from anywhere in the world.

Rigorous and fully-accredited online education

In elementary school, young children receive a solid grounding in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art and Music, offering an unmatched depth and breadth of content on one site. As they become more independent and responsible, the academy meets this evolving student with a curriculum that’s both proven and continually refined. They then progress to high school, a time of big changes, challenges, opportunities and new experiences.

Being virtual does not mean teachers are hands-off — there are assigned academic advisers to monitor students’ progress. Virtual reality learning is available on many Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses, making it hands-on and interactive.

For their business entrepreneurship class, students Justin and Jessica created a video to review the academy. “We do presentations, online games, online labs,” shares Justin. “It’s pretty fun.”

Whenever they want, they can just log into their computers to complete all their reading and assignments online. For night owls like Justin and early birds like Jessica, it’s the perfect arrangement. “I like to do it in the morning so I could have the rest of the day to myself,” says Jessica.

“I like to sleep in and do all my assignments at night. It works out perfectly,” shares Justin. “We’re happy we aren’t stuck in school for seven hours which neither of us can handle so if you’re looking for a school that’s online, interactive and works around your schedule and fair price … There is no better school.”
