Conceived as a joint venture between two top business schools in Europe – Católica and Nova – The Lisbon MBA was designed having in mind talented and high-flying professionals.
With the aim of creating an outstanding course that could compete among the best in the world, both schools joined forces, in collaboration with MIT Sloan School of Management, to give students the springboard for success so badly needed in today’s competitive business environment.
Needless to say, they achieved their goal and the rankings reflect this.
Considered in the top 20 best full-time MBA’s in Europe according to the 2017 Financial Times Top 100 Global MBA Rankings, and number one in Europe for international student experience, the Lisbon MBA International Full Time gives you the practical knowledge needed to succeed in today’s dynamic and ever-changing world.
Both business schools are also in the exclusive group of one percent of schools in the world to hold triple accreditation – AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA – so a qualification from here will make a valuable addition to any resume.
Located in Lisbon, one of the up-and-coming business capitals of Europe, and the seventh most attractive European city for investment according to Price Waterhouse Coopers and the Urban Land Institute, students can capitalise on this thriving hub of innovation.
The Lisbon MBA International is a one-year full-time intensive program, working in partnership with the MIT Sloan School of Management to offer students the chance to take classes and develop international networks by participating in a one month immersion in their Boston campus. Studying courses specifically focused on global issues in management, students get to capitalise on some of the world’s top higher education resources, world-renowned professors and learning centres, as well as enjoying MIT Affiliate Status upon graduation.
The two-month Action Learning period that is incorporated into the course also lets students put their newfound knowledge and skills to the test within Portugal or further afield.
Students can apply to one of three opportunities on offer; including an mba-level internship with a company in which students tackle real-world issues facing the business world today, while also building their confidence in the workplace and expanding their professional network in their respective fields.
Students can also participate in an International Lab in Brazil, China or Mexico. Working in teams with their counterparts in Insper in São Paulo, Fudan University in Shanghai or EGADE in Mexico City, students gain insight into working on a global scale by conducting a consultancy project for local companies.
Those who want to become entrepreneurs after the MBA can join Startup Lisboa, in what is called the Entrepreneurship Hub option. Students can work in their own projects during July and August completely immersed in one of the hottest Startup ecosystems in Europe.
The Lisbon MBA International is proud of its international and hands-on approach. In our ever-shrinking world, the valuable international insight sets The Lisbon MBA International graduates apart from the competition. The majority of businesses will operate on some international level, whether it’s whole branches abroad or just a handful of international online customers, and almost all will harbour aspirations to grow. This understanding of the nuances of international business culture is highly sought-after by employers looking to expand on the global stage.
Another area where this Accelerated MBA stands out is in personal development, also known as soft skills. The Friday Forum workshops allow students to become self-aware of your identity, beliefs and habits and provide them with tools, concepts, or just “out of the box” experiences that will feed each student’s own choices regarding who they are and who they want to become as a leader.
By establishing a two-way value channel of knowledge exchange and practise, the Católica | Nova partnership has cultivated lasting and constructive relationships with some of the world’s leading names in business, including Siemens, Deloitte and Unilever, just to name a few. Students benefit from strong links with the corporate world and countless opportunities for networking.
Through a range of events orchestrated by the Career Management Center, students get to meet with business leaders at Corporate Insight Sessions, Mock interviews, Business Case Competition, Consulting Projects and Talks with CEO’s. These unique opportunities allow students to learn from the absolute best in the field, taking on their tips for career and business success while getting their foot in the door of big business.
The unique opportunities offered as part of The Lisbon MBA International are designed to allow students as much exposure to the real-world of business (and the key players who run it) as possible. By the time students graduate, they are not only well-versed in the theoretical side of business, but are also comfortable entering the workplace to provide practical and useful solutions to the problems faced in the modern-day business environment. Graduates are prepared with the tools and support network needed to make an immediate impact on any field they chose to enter.
The success of The Lisbon MBA’s approach is evident in the success its graduates enjoy. An impressive 43 percent of Lisbon MBA students have already secured a position prior to graduating, and 81 percent are in employment three months after graduation. On average, Lisbon graduates enjoy a 20 percent increase in salary once they’ve earned their valuable qualification.
All of these career-boosting elements of The Lisbon MBA come together to create a truly life-changing experience. Through their partnership with the world-class MIT University, their strong connections with the corporate world, the outstanding resources of both Católica and Nova business schools, and their hands-on approach to learning, students gain a combination of relevant theory and workplace experience that is essential in putting their career on a newfound path to success.
