The Times Higher Education World Rankings for 2018 are out, and the best arts and humanities schools are located everywhere across the globe from the United States to England, Japan to the Netherlands.
Stanford University topped the list for 2018, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. University College London (UCL) was in equal fifth place.
While the top ten might have been dominated by the Ivy Leagues, Oxbridges, and seasoned arts colleges of the US and UK, the top 100 schools according to THE are very diverse. For example, China’s Peking University came in at 17 followed by the Humboldt University of Berlin.
LMU Munich in Germany and KU Leuven in Flanders, Belgium were ranked 21 and 22, while the Free University of Berlin and Leiden University in the Netherlands (equally ranked with Ivy Leaguer Cornell University) also made the top 25.
Also featured in the top 100 were the Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia, the University of Sydney, the University of Helsinki, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Kyoto University in Japan.
