Online learning in universities is becoming more common today as technology enables students and working adults to study anywhere, at any time, and bridges geographical divides. With the current pandemic, studying online has become even more popular for students seeking social distance. A leader in higher education, UC Berkeley Global has long recognised the benefits of digital learning, and has been developing this type of instruction for years.
UC Berkeley Global offers a diverse array of online, professional part-time and full-time certificates and courses, where students can thrive in their respective careers after gaining relevant and highly sought-after skills.
If you’re interested in finding out more about how this top-ranked institution’s online courses and programmes can help you in your educational journey—whether you’ve recently graduated high school, are currently working toward your undergraduate degree or want to gain professional skills—then you don’t want to miss out on their upcoming virtual fair. At the fair, you’ll gain insights into each programme from dedicated advisers, and how they can ensure that you meet your academic and professional goals.
Following the success of UC Berkeley Global’s first virtual fair in July, there will be a second one held on Tuesday, October 6, 5:30–7:30 pm (Pacific Time) and Thursday, October 8, 8:30–10:30 am (Pacific Time).
Dr. Henry Tsang, the Director of Global Pre-Collegiate Programmes at UC Berkeley Global, will introduce the world-class education offered by the university in his keynote presentation, “World-Class Education at the Gateway to Silicon Valley,” and how alumni were shown to have founded more new companies (881) than the alumni of any other university in the world.
At the fair, you’ll also hear from Randeep Kullar, Career Services Manager at UC Berkeley Global in her keynote presentation, “Internships—A Path to Career Exploration and Advancement.” She’ll be discussing how internships can work for you, how to land one, and the best ways to take advantage of one, among other valuable insights.
Interactive online learning
From the comfort of their homes, students receive access to all the benefits of a classroom-based academic course, with opportunities to network with fellow classmates, learn from working professionals and industry experts, and receive a Berkeley-quality education. Online courses and certifications range from subjects in science, technology, business and the arts.
“Now more than ever, we must realise that our lives are interconnected and that education has always been the most effective way to develop cultural humility,” says Dean Diana Wu. “We define global as a mindset rather than geography. We’re seeking students who want to expand beyond their comfort zones and learn from peers here in Berkeley and across the world.”
Online courses here are offered in a variety of formats to cater to every individual, from online self-paced courses to Live Online.
Students can choose from three different online learning formats: start anytime classes, which allows for the most flexibility (students can progress through the course at their own pace), fixed-date courses that have a set start and end date, and Live Online classes, with the same set up as the fixed-date courses but with the addition of classroom-style interactive learning through scheduled online sessions.
“It’s important that we meet a variety of student needs,” says Wu. “We have programmes for high schoolers seeking an American educational experience to seasoned professionals upskilling for a major career transition. UC Berkeley Global students can take courses right alongside other Berkeley students with some of the top faculty in the world, or study a specialised topic from industry experts. Flexibility is an important part of the student journey.”
Gain real-world experience in Silicon Valley
Students in these courses also benefit from the Professional Internship Programmes, where they receive opportunities to develop real-world skills in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area, thanks to the university’s industry connections.
Under this programme, students gain valuable working experience in fields like marketing, data science, finance, UI/UX, business development and entrepreneurship, provided with one-on-one coaching by the Berkeley Global Career Services team to prepare them for interviews with host organisations that have expressed interest in their professional profiles.
Through the diverse network of organisations that have been vetted and pre-approved for this internship programme, most students successfully land work experience opportunities — guided by the Career Services team who identify internship roles that meet their academic and professional goals.
Register for the virtual fair today and find out how you can achieve new career heights through the world-class online courses at UC Berkeley Global.
