Connecting with the community, engaging with industry and advancing student knowledge, Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School (AAGBS) in Malaysia is for agile talent to prosper, professionally and personally.
An integral branch of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), AAGBS is the most prominent graduate school with the largest enrolment at the university, poised to be the nation’s best graduate business school by 2021.
Transitioning into the new era of business, the school’s mission is to provide unique experiential learning which leads to student success. Classroom learning is elevated by small class sizes, advocating the development of leadership quality and the advancement of analytical, critical thinking and communication skills with heightened teacher-student interaction.
Postgraduate programmes with a real-world purpose
The signature AAGBS Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme is flexible with full/part-time or executive mode, promoting an understanding of strategic business models, contemporary issues and appreciation of responsible and sustainable business values that are very much in demand in today’s market.
Core and specialisation courses of the MBA include: Managerial Accounting, Economics for Business Decisions, Leadership and Managing Talent, Managerial Business Analytics, Strategic Marketing Management, Applied Business Projects, Managerial Finance, Operations Management, Business Research Application, Strategic Management and Global Business Strategy.
Through the school’s international collaboration with foreign partner universities, candidates are also given an incredible opportunity to participate in their exchange programmes. You can study part of your MBA with the Stuttgart Technology University of Applied Sciences (HFT Stuttgart) in Germany, the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium or the Yamaguchi University in Japan.
Valuing student diversity and integration, the school mixes both modern and traditional learning approaches to give you the greatest MBA experience. That’s why they support student mobility with innovative partnerships with the universities mentioned, and instigating industry engagement opportunities with local business networks in Malaysia.
Other programmes offered at AAGBS include the Master of Islamic Banking & Finance (MIBF), the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) and the Doctor of Philosophy by Mixed Mode (PhD).
Furthering international impact with their strategic graduate courses, the school has formed a stronger academic linkage with Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences, Germany (HFT), which means you can also opt for the Dual Masters programme and obtain two degrees; an MBA from AAGBS and Master of Arts in General Management (MA) from Stuttgart.
Limitless experiential learning opportunities
Central to AAGBS study opportunities are experiential learning activities. Through out-of-the-classroom lessons and deep dives into business industry, students enhance their knowledge with a range of practical projects.
Earlier this year, a delegation of 10 students from the MBA programme (Global Business Issues course AA7004P), led by Project Director Luqman Hadi Azahar, visited the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta, for their experiential learning trip.
The main objective of this activity was to provide exposure to the global economic situation between Indonesia and Malaysia. By taking part, students gain first-hand experience on the opportunities and challenges existing in today’s dynamic business environment, applying the skills they acquired at AAGBS to real-world situations.
As well as raising awareness about the modern business landscape, the school also broadens students’ minds to the environmental issues our planet is currently facing.
That’s why AGGBS, under the CSR Club, sent 30 participants to attend the 7th Edition of Save Our Rainforest Race (SORR) 2019 at Taman Botanikal; hosted by NGO Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam (PEKA) or the Association of National Heritage of Malaysia.
While completing the race, all participants plant trees to preserve nature, drawing attention to the destruction of natural resources and defending the rights of the environment, striving to save the rainforest and its biodiversity from extinction.
Ensuring a diverse balance within experiential learning activities, AGGBS transforms students into agile, aware graduates who are ready to take on new roles and responsibilities in their future careers and personal lives.
Unforgettable student experiences
For Dual-Masters programme participant, Mohamad Arif Bin Mohd Som, the school’s experiential approach to learning meant that he has many unforgettable memories at AAGBS.
“Discovering new cultures and norms which are totally opposite of ours in Malaysia has broadened my views and perspectives. The Deutsch people showed me how things are done differently there. Despite being an international student, I was welcomed and treated like a local. In class particularly, everyone is treated equally and given the opportunity to be part of the learning process,” he explains.
International student Wassim El Maaboud also felt welcomed throughout his business study ventures, “I was given the opportunity to participate in a student exchange programme in Malaysia and attended classes in the Master of Islamic Banking and Finance programme and the city of Shah Alam is genuinely one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in.
“AAGBS turned out to be a rewarding experience. Being an international student at the school, I was warmly welcomed by all the students, staff and lecturers. They immediately made me feel like I belonged and helped me with everything I needed. I still keep contact with many of my student friends from Malaysia including the lecturers and I hope that one day I’ll be able to come back to this vibrant city.”
Leaving a lasting impression on those who apply for their programmes, the Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School is a wise study choice. This is a school that grants students a firm advantage in a competitive career market.
