A life-changing opportunity: Antonella’s story

For Antonella Servidio, JCU provided a fresh start. After a challenging year in Florida, she transferred her credits to JCU to study Media and Communication. But moving to Rome wasn’t just about academics — it was about reconnecting with her roots and pursuing new opportunities.

“I moved to Rome, started learning Italian, and reconnected with my family here,” says Servidio, an Italian-American dual citizen. Crucially, JCU’s full Presidential Scholarship enabled her journey. “The scholarship allowed me to make a better life for myself,” she shares.

The Presidential Scholarship awards up to US$9,500 (7,000 euros) annually to academically high-achieving students, covering a significant portion of tuition costs.

Initially, Servidio thought an international education was out of reach. That changed when a JCU recruiter introduced her to the university’s scholarships. “The application process was straightforward,” she recalls. With the recruiter’s guidance, Servidio secured the full Presidential Scholarship with a strong personal essay and recommendation.

JCU scholarships like this one can also be combined with need-based financial aid, providing even greater affordability.

“Receiving this scholarship has motivated me to strive for greatness in my studies,” says the Communications major, who is also minoring in Digital Media Arts and Productions and Gender Studies. “It’s an opportunity not everyone gets, and I’m determined to make the most of it.”

Celebrating excellence and diversity

For Rashell Guzmeli Andino from Honduras, JCU’s Expansion Scholarship made studying in Rome possible. Awarded for her impressive academic record and leadership experience, the scholarship recognizes exceptional students from Central and South America.

“This scholarship has relieved a lot of financial stress for my family,” says Andino. “Without it, studying here would have been out of reach.”

The annual scholarships of 4,000 to 8,000 euros are designed to increase ethnic and national diversity at the university and are awarded to students who are citizens of countries in South and Central America (including Mexico).

JCU offers a variety of undergraduate financial aid and scholarships options, including the Italian Merit Scholarship, Dean’s List Scholarship, and Secchia Scholarship Programme, among others. Nearly 85% of students receive financial assistance, ensuring that an American degree in Rome is more accessible than ever.

With these scholarships and financial aid offerings, earning an American degree in Rome may be more affordable than you think. JCU estimates that a student spends around US$54,600 per academic year on learning materials and supplies, transportation, visas and permits, and tuition fees; the latter can be deducted by financial aid.

“This scholarship has been incredibly beneficial to my time at John Cabot University because it has relieved my family from a lot of the stress that comes with sending a daughter to study abroad,” says Andino. “The cost of living in Honduras compared to Europe is very different, so I probably would not have been able to study here if it weren’t for the Expansion Scholarship.”
