TWU: Taking academic impact further with new FAR Centres in India and Uganda

By combining their 15 years of international collaboration with their experience of delivering online classes since 1996, Trinity Western University (TWU) in Canada has opened doors for students all over the world.

Acknowledging that the future of higher education will be in the integration of technology and provision of facilitation support and coaching for students, TWU has expanded their academic outreach even further.

By choosing to create new Facilitated Academic Resource Centres (FAR) in Chennai, India, at Stella Maris University, at Jagannath University in Jaipur, India, and at Bishop Stuart University, in Mbarara, Uganda, career opportunities for international students are on the rise.

Breaking down learning boundaries by granting global students’ access to high-quality Canadian degree programmes, TWU FAR Centres connect you to valuable online learning materials and adaptive pedagogies that suit your chosen discipline; also offering you the chance to study in Canada!

Each FAR centre will use technology, group discussion, case analysis and content contextualisation to help learners understand the course material and to increase their success in completing the online course delivered from TWU.

What is a TWU FAR Centre?

A Trinity Western University FAR Centre is a collaboration between the university and an institutional university or college partner. Through the collaboration, TWU will design, develop and deliver online education, and will send qualified facilitators to support international learners on site as they progress through the set online course material.

By enrolling into a FAR Centre, you’ll complete up to half your TWU Degree by taking online classes with onsite tutorials and facilitation support, and then you’ll complete the next part at Trinity Western University in Canada.

The TWU facilitators that you’ll meet at the FAR Centre will live on site and provide individualised coaching to support your academic needs, readying you for the campus environment in Canada.

Please note that all course content, assessment, registration and credentialing of students will take place at TWU in Canada. From there, the TWU faculty will deliver the course material using their MOODLE-based online learning system and will receive and grade all assignments from students online.

At your international FAR Centre location, TWU will also put you through the admissions process and provide pre-university English courses where necessary.

What’s unique about these new centres is that they will create a micro–campus community with coffee, sports, music, games, activities and a celebration of Canadian special events (all conducted in English).

Placing you in a Canadian learning environment and helping you to practice your English communication skills, the centre will act as an education hub that heightens your cultural awareness and tightens the bonds between you and your fellow TWU colleagues.

The TWU online undergraduate or postgraduate courses you select will remain the same, but the FAR centre adds a support structure to your online learning to assist you with any trouble you might be facing.

By increasing your academic success with nearby facilitators and proactive sessions, you’ll increase your chance of furthering your studies in Canada and completing the course at Trinity Western University!

Why choose TWU?

Not only will you save a considerable amount on the overall cost of your degree by doing one semester of study in your home country, you’ll also intertwine the benefits of a FAR Centre experience with a study abroad experience in Canada.
