As more parents see the perks of English-medium international schools, career opportunities in this field are increasing. In the last 10 years, the number of such institutions has risen steadily, recording over 12,000 institutions and 6.1 million students today.

In Asia, the international schools market collects US$33.8 billion in total annual tuition fees. As of March 2021, Indonesia and Thailand have 377 and 254 English-medium international schools. To stand out from the competition, many recruit talent from all over the world to join its teaching staff. It’s common for teachers to have master’s degrees and beyond.

Many international schools in Thailand usually require a relevant degree and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) with qualified teacher status. Two to three years’ experience at an English-speaking school, plus a teaching license, are prerequisites as well. Similar requirements for a bachelor’s degree, plus related work experience, apply to international schools in Indonesia.

Join them for a rewarding career in one of the noblest professions in the world, starting with a world-class qualification from one of these UK universities:

Expect to collaborate with coursemates from Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Mexico, Poland, Switzerland and the UK.

“The Teaching English to Young Learners module was very interesting since we acted as real teachers teaching through stories, drama, songs and poems,” shares Amal

Hanashi, who studied the MA Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

“We also acted as young learners to understand the process of acquiring a language. I also enjoyed the Exploring English Language Learning and Teaching (ELT) module. I studied various useful methods of teaching English. The most interesting part about the ELT module is the practice we got at teaching in a real classroom under our tutors’ supervision.”
