When Morayo Olayiwade Kudehinbu sought a UK university to advance her career, Swansea University ticked all the right boxes. It was known for great teachers, friendly people, and a location in a “beautiful city with amazing views.” To the Nigerian, it seemed “a very welcoming environment to flourish.”
While the School of Management had many programmes that reflect the skillsets required by an evolving workplace, Kudehinbu chose the Management (Enterprise and Innovation), MSc to gain the skills to found, operate and grow a business. “I am currently studying Management in Enterprise and Innovation. This course centres on critical-thinking in entrepreneurship, innovation management, and business strategy and project foundations,” she says. “The concept of the course is important to navigate today’s economic markets.”
Kudehinbu’s confidence isn’t unfounded — Swansea University is ranked 298th in the QS World University Rankings 2025. The programmes are taught by leading experts in key areas of business and management, and 86% of the university’s overall research was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent in the Research Excellence Framework 2021.
Specifically, the School of Management, a 22-million-pound building located on the Bay Campus, offers a range of subjects that hold accreditation from professional bodies. Here, students can explore Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, or take an MBA to accelerate their careers.
Within the Management, MSc programme, students get to delve into pathways tailored to their interests. The list includes, but is not limited to, Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Digital Business, International Management, Media, Operations and Supply Management, and Sport. As a subject ranked 10th in the UK and 78th globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, students can be assured of the impact and prestige of their degree.
For Loloah Alhozami from Saudi Arabia, the Management (Marketing), MSc was exactly what she needed to join the marketing sector. With no academic background in business, Alhozami found it necessary to have both marketing-specific knowledge and management skills. In Swansea University’s programme, she found both.
“Studying here has trained my mind to be more critical in examining any work presented to me and I found that my standards in delivering work have improved,” says Alhozami, who is now an executive assistant at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University. “Plus, I liked that most lecturers could share their industry experiences with us. I used to enjoy hearing their stories, especially Ms Sarah Owens, who is truly an expert in marketing.”
It’s clear that Alhozami has benefited from her education at Swansea University. Her programme, in particular, is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute, the only professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence, and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, adding further value to her professional capabilities upon graduating.
Truc Thanh Le, a Vietnamese graduate of the Management (Sustainable Business), MSc programme, shares their observations of how Swansea University “is really focused on preparing us for successful careers after graduation.”
“In my course, it’s not just about book smarts. We have discussions, workshops, and presentations where we learn to collaborate, share ideas, and debate in a professional setting,” says Le. “Plus, I’ve picked up practical skills like strategic planning, critical thinking, and how to polish my CV to stand out to employers. I feel more confident speaking in public and presenting myself, which boosts my profile for future job opportunities.”
When students aren’t busy boosting their careers, they’re making the most of their vibrant, engaging, and exciting campus.
With over 120 societies, 50 sports clubs, and 12 months of must-see events, there’s always an opportunity to see, do and experience more. Ranked third on Student Crowd’s Best Universities in Wales 2024 list, Swansea University is where you’ll find stunning views, fun activities, and a multinational community ready to welcome you.
“As an international student, relocating to a new country can be overwhelming. This wasn’t the case when I moved to Swansea,” says Kudehinbu. “The international student department assisted me in integrating into the system without issues.”
For Susan Mary Sunny, Swansea was simply the “most economically feasible option for an overseas student like me.” Between the availability of part-time jobs and the lower cost of living, the city and university were the perfect pick for the Indian student to pursue her International Business, MSc degree.
“Anyone will love it here,” says Kudehinbu. “Swansea University provides you with all you need to be successful in your programme. Its distinctive multicultural community is always available to render every assistance necessary. The quality of life is remarkable both on and off campus; the views and city ambience are spectacular.”
