The programme is a partnership between Sony Music Group and the Institute of International Education (IIE). Sony Music scholarship programme: What to know

Scholarship coverage

According to IIE’s website, scholarship amounts will range between 3,000 US dollars and US$20,000 per academic year.

The amount dispensed will vary depending on students’ degree programmes, the location of the college/university, the type of college/university (e.g. state vs private university), and the Sony Music Group Global Scholar’s expected financial need.

Take note that this scholarship does not cover all of your educational expenses. Any balance of funding not borne by the scholarship is to be covered by you. This includes tuition and fees, books and supplies, living expenses, and transportation.

Sony Music Group Global Scholars may also be given other opportunities by Sony Music Group to further their professional development, including unpaid internship or mentorship opportunities.

Payments will be sent directly to your college or university.

You will receive your scholarship payments via your accredited educational institution on an annual basis. Scholarships may be renewed for up to three additional years or until completing your degree, whichever comes first.

Eligibility requirements

You may be eligible for the Sony Music scholarship if you plan to enrol full-time in an undergraduate music or a business-related field pertaining to music, at an accredited college or university. This is applicable to three to four-year undergraduate degree programmes too.

To qualify for the Sony Music scholarship, you must maintain the US equivalent GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or above, while your academic record must show your potential to succeed in your field of study.

“Applicants do not need to be accepted into a programme at the time of application, but if selected for a scholarship, proof of full-time enrollment will be required before scholarship funds can be sent,” notes IIE.

Application deadline

Applications are open for submission until July 25, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time). Scholarship recipients will be announced in September 2022.
