What if a school felt more like a second home than a place of rules? A good school should be that kind of sanctuary, a space where kids feel safe to discover who they are. It’s where they can speak freely, make mistakes, and grow without fear. Surrounded by support and understanding, they learn to embrace their individuality and take pride in the person they’re becoming.
Saint Stanislaus is that kind of school. Located along the peaceful Mississippi Gulf Coast, the school was built to help young men grow in every sense — academically, socially, and personally. Founded in 1854 by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, it’s a Catholic all-boys boarding and day school for grades seven through 12.
The school welcomes students from across the Gulf Coast and beyond to its close-knit community that values structure, discipline, and purpose. Within this environment, every boy is encouraged to reach his full potential. Faith and character are integral to daily life, blending timeless values with contemporary pedagogy to shape confident and compassionate young men.
In fact, that’s what led Santiago Castillo’s parents to choose Saint Stanislaus for their son. During their visit, they were struck by the beauty of the coastal town and the calm that surrounded it. It felt safe, which reassured them that their son would be in good hands, even far from home. “Then we got to know the school and we really liked the academic focus, the emphasis on faith, and all the activities connected to both,” they say.

For Castillo, Saint Stanislaus represents an opportunity to grow in every way. “My expectations from St. Stanislaus are to improve my baseball, learn new things, learn more English, and become more responsible,” he says. “I also want to improve my faith with God.”
Here, he won’t have to do that alone. Faculty is dedicated and provide personal attention and mentorship. Teachers encourage, challenge, and support students at every step of their journey here. That personal connection continues inside the classroom. Small class sizes make learning interactive and engaging, allowing every student to feel seen and supported.
“When you go to a public school, there are a lot of students and only one teacher,” says Shogo Toda, an international student from Tokyo. “Here, there are fewer students, so you get more attention. That’s one of the good things about this school.”

Part of what makes Saint Stanislaus special is its location. The school sits near the estuary of the Bay, surrounded by sandy beaches and marshy coastlines. These natural settings serve as outdoor classrooms for the school’s marine science programme — the only one of its kind on the Mississippi coast. The programme gives students hands-on opportunities to study marine ecosystems, an experience that connects academic learning with real-world discovery.
“For me, it was very important that we have a marine science programme at this school, which we do not have in Poland,” says another student, Jan. “I’m excited to do some fishing as well around St. Stanislaus.”
Such experiences ease the settling in process. While adjusting to any new school can be challenging, students here quickly learn to appreciate the close friendships they form and the valuable lessons they learn from resolving differences.
Inside Aurelian Hall, the residence for boarders, they are guided by a primarily male faculty, serving as role models who exemplify integrity and respect. Through these interactions, boys develop self-discipline, honesty, and mutual respect. They learn to own their actions, ask for permissions when needed, and accept the consequences that come with their choices – all in a familial atmosphere.
From 7.00 a.m. wakeup call on weekdays to after-school programmes and weekend activities, life here offers unparalleled advantages. When they’re not focusing on excelling in exams and preparing to enter top universities, boarders are either competing inter-scholastically in 14 sports or making their mark in over 20 clubs and organisations. Weekends are filled with various cultural and recreational activities from Friday night football games, basketball games, and school dances, followed by off-campus trips on Saturdays and weekly mass and relaxation on Sundays.
