If Nottingham has an “Extreme Ironing Club” and Bath has a club named “Gravity Vomit”, a US Ivy League institution now has a bondage, domination, sadism, and machoism (BDSM) club.
The club at Princeton was launched earlier this month after the university’s student government voted to officially recognise it, according to The College Fix.
Named “Princeton Plays”, the club aims to “provide a safe space for students interested in non-traditional relationships” and “to promote values of sexual inclusivity and affirm that all types of safe and consensual activity between individuals is valid,”The Daily Princetonian reported earlier this month.
The club joins several other top-tier universities’ active student BDSM groups such as Harvard’s “Munch”, Columbia’s “Conversion Virium” and Cornell’s “Crunch”. Many “Sex Week” campus events at different colleges, including Harvard and the University of Chicago, have over the years also included workshops on the kinky sexual subculture alongside sexual health education.

“Oftentimes campus dialogue doesn’t include important aspects of sex, sexuality and sexual health, gender, and gender identity, and relationships and intimacy,” SHEATH co-president Lita D. Peña told the Crimson, Harvard’s student paper.
“These are really complicated conversations and we should be having these conversations more often.”
