EDHEC’s Master in Management (MiM) degree is an excellent choice for many reasons. It’s ideal for those looking to develop a business forte after working or studying in a different field. Plus, you don’t need years of experience to get started.
But the appeal of EDHEC Business School in France’s MiM degree goes far beyond this.
EDHEC’s MiM stands out for its prestige and customisation. The programme, ranked 4th worldwide by the Financial Times 2024, offers four specialised tracks uniquely designed to nurture international careers in business, finance, data, or technology and innovation. What sets EDHEC’s MiM apart is the opportunity for students to begin their chosen specialisation from the first year, building a solid foundation in business fundamentals. This journey is further enhanced by a professional immersion year in the second year and concludes with the opportunity to deepen expertise by pursuing an MSc in their chosen field or opt for a double degree at a partner institution.
Tailor your learning experience through four specialised tracks
Amongst the four tracks, Finance and Business Management are the programme’s most established and attract the largest number of students. The former, prepares students to succeed in the top tiers of international finance. They stand out for their expertise in corporate financial strategy, financial engineering, investment banking, financial accounting, reporting and analysis, risk management, sustainable finance and equity and fixed-income portfolio management – all of which are relevant to the industry thanks to its partnership with the CFA Institute, CQF Institute and Forvis Mazars.
The Business Management track transforms students into innovative thinkers, equipping them to adapt to change and excel in complex situations through real-world experiences with partners like Decathlon, EY and P&G. Looking for an edge? Consider joining the apprenticeship track, a 24-month, part-time track based at the Paris campus, which has placed 1,550 apprentices (125 places each year) at 300 partner companies.
Those seeking more quantitative skills will find the ideal. With the accelerating growth of emerging technology, especially the advent of AI, business is changing by the minute, so this track ensures that you can stay ahead in this era of data and innovation – with the right managerial skills to boot.
If you aim for international exposure within technology sectors, there’s no better track than the Global Master in Management- GETT. Here, students start their first semester at the Paris EDHEC campus, then choose between two pathways to study abroad at acclaimed partner universities: the USA/Asia pathway, which flies you to San Francisco and Seoul, while the Europe pathway takes you to Berlin and London.
From EDHEC’s MiM to dream careers
Scores of MiM graduates have realised their professional goals by leveraging their degree. One of them is MiM (Business Management track) graduate Akshit Pareek.
Originally veering towards a mechanical engineering career, Akshit realised during an internship that it simply wasn’t his true calling. He’d already earned an undergraduate degree in that field but chose to move to advertising work for a year and a half. It was a decision that unveiled his true calling: marketing in luxury and fashion, born out of a long love for luxury cars.
That’s where he saw fit to proceed with his next step: pursuing a MiM degree at EDHEC Business School. He chose the Business Management track.
He took foundational courses like brand and communication management, customer relationship management, and financial statement analysis. Then, he was able to dive into courses related to the luxury business, building a “nuanced understanding of the field.”
Thanks to the school’s practical approach and close corporate ties, Akshit got to apply this new knowledge with some of the biggest brands in the luxury world. Not only did he intern with the L’Oréal Group and the Pernod Ricard Group, but he also got to join the L’Oréal Brandstorm challenge, a student case competition, and direct recruitment sessions, access tailored job portals, and take part in many networking events .
“EDHEC’s strong industry connections played a pivotal role in advancing my career. During the school’s Luxury Week, I attended a presentation by Chanel, where I had the opportunity to network with an HR representative,” he shares. “This conversation turned out to be a turning point, as it led to my current role.”
Today, Akshit is an Assistant Project Manager at Chanel, working on a Generative AI project. Straddling technology and business, he collaborates with teams across the company to ensure that the solutions they deliver align with Chanel’s values and business needs. “This role allows me to combine my passion for marketing, luxury, and technology, leveraging my engineering background and business acumen,” he explains.
Like Akshit, Simona Marchese turned her MiM as a launchpad to her chosen career. Originally from Italy, she sought a master’s programme that would empower her to pursue a career in finance, which she found intriguing and dynamic. She opted for the Finance track.
As her undergraduate degree was in Economics and Management, she was drawn to EDHEC’s MiM because “it offered the opportunity to build a strong foundation in finance fundamentals during M1, followed by the option to specialise in areas of my interest.”
For Simona, the main objective was to prepare for “a career in investment that could drive meaningful change.” To this end, EDHEC’s faculty members, with their extensive industry experience, laid the right groundwork for her.
“They did this by sharing firsthand examples from their careers, which made our learning experience much more impactful,” she says. “Additionally, they often recreated real-world scenarios that gave us a hands-on approach to learning, bridging the gap between theory and practice.”
Often enough, her school brought the world to her campus. “For me, the greatest influence came from the debates, roundtables, and guest lectures hosted by EDHEC,” says Simona. “These events provided opportunities to listen to and learn from industry leaders, as well as ask questions in a supportive environment. EDHEC’s Tier-1 partnerships provided access to experts who gave direct exposure to and tips on potential career opportunities.”
During her professional immersion year, Simona got to refine her career goals further. Believing that the professional immersion year is essential in shaping one’s future self, she seized the opportunity to work in various companies. “I analysed companies both from a financial perspective and an operational/market standpoint, which is directly applicable to my current role as a private equity analyst,” she says.
It wasn’t long after graduating that Simona landed the role she wanted. As a private equity analyst today, she covers a wide range of tasks that apply both financial and strategic skills, including deal sourcing, conducting detailed financial analyses, and researching market trends.
“During my time at EDHEC, I had the opportunity to live in five different countries, work at three companies, and study at two business schools,” Simona says. “This exposure to diverse cultures, work environments, and teaching methods in such a short period has been incredibly valuable and has equipped me with the flexibility in this dynamic global landscape.”
No matter which track you choose — it’s no question that EDHEC students become highly-skilled, highly-employable graduates. Over 60,000 alumni are thriving in their careers across the world, in companies the likes of L’Oréal, Bank of America, Amazon, Credit Agricole, Deloitte, LVMH, KPMG, JP Morgan, Chanel, to name a few.
