    These are the 10 most international universities in the US

    In 2016-17, there were more than a million international students in the US. Nearly half (439,019) were undergraduates.

    This is a diverse group of people. Origins, interests and aims vary greatly.

    While the bulk of the students are from China, overall they hail from more than 200 countries.

    The three most popular courses are engineering, business and management, and math and computer, data from Institute of International Education show.

    And while they are present in all 50 US states, some institutions were more popular than others.

    Using reports submitted by 295 National Universities, US News was able to rank the institutions according to the makeup of their international student body.

    Here are the top 10 schools with the highest percentages of undergraduate international students during the 2016-2017 school year:

    1. Florida Institute of Technology

    Percentage of international students: 32.9; Total undergraduate enrollment: 3,629

    2. New School (NY)

    Percentage of international students: 32.3; Total undergraduate enrollment: 7,014

    3. University of Tulsa, Oklahoma

    Percentage of international students: 23.9; Total undergraduate enrollment: 3,406

    4. Carnegie Mellon University, Pennsylvania

    Percentage of international students: 22.7; Total undergraduate enrollment: 6,673

    5. Suffolk University, Massachusetts

    Percentage of international students: 22.4; Total undergraduate enrollment: 5,290

    6. Boston University, Massachusetts

    Percentage of international students: 21.9; Total undergraduate enrollment: 17,944

    7. Illinois Institute of Technology, Illinois

    Percentage of international students: 21.5; Total undergraduate enrollment: 2,944

    8. University of Rochester, New York

    Percentage of international students: 20.8; Total undergraduate enrollment: 6,386

    9. Brandeis University, Massachusetts

    Percentage of international students: 20.6 ; Total undergraduate enrollment: 3,608

    10. Northeastern University, Massachusetts

    Percentage of international students: 19.9; Total undergraduate enrollment: 13,473
