A degree in Hospitality Management unlocks several opportunities for those who wish to work in the hospitality sector.
Since it’s such a broad field, graduates have plenty of career options, choosing to work in hotel management, airlines, restaurants, event venues, and more.
A hospitality management degree grants students the in-depth understanding of the hospitality industry, but it’s also ideal for those who intend to start their own business in this sector.
Not only do you get to know the ins and outs of the industry, you also develop important skills in people management, leadership, finance and marketing, teamwork, and communication.
It’s a solid career choice because people are relying on hospitality services now more than ever. The younger generation are staying and eating at home less but travelling more, meaning that the food and beverage industry, along with the hotel and airline industry, are booming.
Over the past decade, the travel and tourism industry also got a boost from new eCommerce players in the market.
Websites and apps like Booking.com and AirBnB provide healthy competition among travel specialists, so consumers have much cheaper options for travel.
According to Deloitte, “A strong economy, rising global consumer purchasing power, and digital innovation have all fueled record growth in the travel and hospitality industry.”
Although automation technology will make the lower-paying jobs in hospitality (such as dishwashing) increasingly rare, there will be an increased need for hospitality managers and leaders to take control of teams and take the business to greater heights.
Those who dream about a career where they can travel or work internationally can achieve it with a hospitality degree, as they can work with international hotel or restaurant chains or even the airline industry.
