Halloween 2017: Student dresses up as men's biggest fear - 'Commitment'

And the most creative costume of the year goes to … Haleigh Conner from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities!

The second-year biology and neuroscience student dressed up in a plain white tee for Halloween this year – pretty plain stuff. That is, until you see the word written in big, bold letters across the top – “COMMITMENT”

A photograph of her in the costume made waves on Instagram since it was posted four days ago, with over 9,000 likes at the time of writing. But it was her tweet of the costume, where she tagged all her exes, that her photo really went viral.

Conner told Buzzfeed News those “exes” were her “boyfriends in middle school”, but those relationships weren’t anything “serious”.

While some thought her tweet was funny (even her exes!) and “really savage to my exes”, others were pointing out the number of exes she had and hate-tweeting her.

But Conner is taking it in stride, saying: It’s not worth it for me to look at all the comments and such, these people don’t know me or know the joke so I’m not too bothered by it!”

Speaking to Insider, the college student said many probably did not know that she wasn’t targeting her recent exes, but those from middle school – hence, why her joke was lost on so many people.

“I think that people don’t understand that most of those exes are from middle school,” Conner said.

“They are assuming that I dated them all seriously and that’s not the case. I tagged the middle school boyfriends as a joke, that was the point.”
