Investing in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree still yields impressive returns, especially for those aiming to challenge the status quo and gain a global perspective. This was precisely what Sukhreet Singh had in mind when he embarked on his MBA journey.
Singh started his career as an audit associate at Ernst & Young (EY) before leaping into entrepreneurship. He opened a chain of pharmacies in India, but COVID-19 prompted him to reflect on his life and career goals. What he found was a deep need to create a greater impact beyond his current setting, leading him to pursue an MBA. Singh believed this degree would position him for a broader role in strategy in the future.
Taking all of this into consideration, he joined the MBA programme at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. Founded in 1919, Goizueta today offers a variety of MBA programmes built on decades of experience. These include one-year, two-year, evening, and executive MBAs.
Singh chose the Two-Year MBA, consistently ranked among the best in the U.S. It is ranked #17 by Fortune (2025) and #18 by US News & World Report (2025) and sits among the top five schools for career outcome success within three months of graduation.
But it’s not just the rankings that drew Singh to Goizueta. The school is located in Atlanta, home to over 75% of the Fortune 1000 companies and 18 Fortune 500 headquarters, including giants like The Home Depot, UPS, and The Coca-Cola Company. Atlanta is a top tech hub and a global FinTech capital with a vibrant startup community. At Goizueta, Singh feels connected to all these opportunities.
“There are many reasons why I chose Goizueta Business School, but the most important ones were its small class size, focus on building community, and location,” Singh says.
The Emory Full-Time MBA programme stands out for its small class sizes, allowing students to receive personalised feedback from professors and build meaningful connections with their peers. “Having been a part of the programme now, I truly understand what tight-knit community means,” Singh says. “At Emory, no one is your competition. Even if you’re applying for the same jobs, everyone ensures you get an opportunity to present your best self.”
Experiential learning and expanding horizons
The curriculum is designed to maximise experiential learning, providing access to a dynamic business environment filled with startups and Fortune 1000 companies. This globally recognised MBA equips students with vital skills and focuses on making a real impact.
Singh experienced this first-hand. “The kind of opportunities that I’ve received here at Emory, I think they have been much more than what I had expected,” he says.
Emory’s comprehensive MBA programme focuses on developing problem-solving and leadership skills, ensuring students are “Day One Ready.” Through projects with real clients, global experiences, and hands-on leadership training, students gain exposure and engagement with industry.
“I think the most impactful experience for me was the consulting project that we did in the second semester,” he says. “Having the opportunity to work with one of the leading global companies, present your recommendations to the executive leadership, and spend six months providing solutions to their business challenges is invaluable.”
With 90 electives and 20 concentrations — ranging from consulting and marketing to business analytics and investment banking — students can align their studies with their professional goals.
While Singh initially aimed for a career in consulting, he found many opportunities at Goizueta that broadened his horizons. He explored venture capital, private equity, marketing, and corporate finance. “That kind of encouraged me to stray away from the path that I had initially come into and look at more opportunities,” he says. “The business school has done a terrific job in providing me those opportunities and exploring the different career paths that I can choose from moving forward.”
Exceptional career support
Goizueta consistently ranks among the top Full-Time MBA programmes for employment because of its tailored career services. From the moment students step on campus, they can access internship preparation, personal career coaches, and an active alumni network — all of which the Career Management Center provides. These resources help guide them through their professional journey, ensuring they are well-prepared to achieve their goals.
Singh’s return to the corporate world after being an entrepreneur was a huge challenge, but Goizueta provided him with the tools and support he needed. “The Career Management Center, professors, and my peers were always available to assist me in any capacity,” he says.
With everything they gain here, it’s little surprise that 96% of graduates from the Class of 2023, including Singh, received job offers in various industries within three months of graduation. These industries include consulting, technology, financial services, marketing, and more, with alumni working at companies like Amazon, Bain & Company, EY, and Capital One Financial Corporation.
Today, Singh is a finance manager at Ecolab, a global leader in sustainability. He hopes to one day be in the C-suite of a Fortune 500 company and drive its culture.
