Discover how Chicago Booth’s Advanced Management Program helps executives thrive and progress in a new business era

When pondering the next steps in one’s career, there has never been a better time to assess lessons learned from recent disruption while gaining the management skills to take you and your organization to the next level. As executives navigate this new era, it’s imperative – perhaps now more than ever – to acquire the strategy, tools, and confidence to make high-stakes decisions during times of anticipated business continuity and unforeseen disruption.

Chicago Booth’s Advanced Management Program (AMP) is the next step in an executive’s succession plan to enhance comprehensive management skills to drive growth and cultivate a sustainable future.

The rigorous non-degree executive education program is designed for senior-level executives who hold leadership positions one or two levels from the CEO in large organizations, or hold C-suite-level positions at midsize companies with significant opportunities for growth. “I chose Booth’s Advanced Management Program because I was looking to take that next step in my career and work on my own development. I had been in the workforce for almost 20 years, and I was ready to compete for those next levels of leadership and wanted something that gave me an edge outside the bounds of my company,” says Maria Cantu, Senior Vice President, CEO Chief of Staff and AMP past participant.

Nikki Valentino, Associate Director at Chicago Booth Executive Education, says Chicago Booth’s AMP offers a combination of benefits no other senior executive program can claim: three weeklong core sessions that provide the tools to be a more effective leader and three elective sessions that are customized to meet individual learning objectives.  This formula – unique to Chicago Booth’s AMP – is the result of interviewing more than 300 senior executives who all cited the need for flexibility and an individualized curriculum.  And this formula seems to be more important than ever as executives seek flexible learning formats as they manage their organization’s regrowth following the pandemic.

“Beyond the three core sessions, participants get to choose three elective sessions in a range of areas such as finance, strategy, decision-making, and more.  And we offer electives at both Chicago and Hong Kong campuses, and offer live-online virtual programs as well,” says Valentino. The electives allow AMP participants to customize the curriculum to best complement their personal career goals, development needs, business interests, and schedule.

“I loved the curriculum and the optionality it offered for me to customize a program while getting to know a cohort of teammates. It also offered the perfect balance for my schedule so that I could complete the course at my pace,” says Cantu.

AMP offers executives:

  • A customized curriculum. AMP consists of three core sessions and three electives to fit your individual professional goals. Elective topics include corporate strategy, negotiations, digital innovation, mergers and acquisitions, advanced finance, and more.
  • A flexible schedule. Pursue educational needs at times that fit your busy schedule. AMP requires only one week away from work at a time, and—for additional flexibility—several elective sessions are offered in a live-online format, allowing you to start the program at any point during the year.
  • Immediate application. Put sharpened skills to work on business opportunities and challenges between sessions. Implementing and experimenting between sessions allows you to discuss results with faculty, an executive coach, and peers, maximizing the program’s return on investment.
