Finding out what contributes to an individual’s personality, ability, and talent can be an arduous task. It can take a lifetime to really understand yourself as a person, which is why horoscopes and the 12 zodiac signs may offer some insight.

Questions like why do some people struggle with tasks that others find particularly easy to accomplish? Astrology — regardless of whether you believe it or not — can help you learn what your strengths and weaknesses are. If you have exams coming up and want to know how to ace those tests, this guide might be able to help you.

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

Goal-oriented and ambitious go-getters, Aries have a natural affinity for learning. However, it is still the baby of the zodiac, which means their attention spans aren’t the best. The absence of passion will lead to a lack of motivation, so subjects that they are not interested in will not be given the time of day.

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

Tauruses are hardworking but prone to procrastination. When in the mood, they can get everything done immediately. However, the opposite can be just as true — Taurus values comfort and repetition above all else so new theories or areas of study tend to shock them.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

Just like the twins, Geminis will find it beneficial to play both the teacher and student roles. They are generally good-natured and helpful, a not-so-good trait to have when it comes to the cut-throat competition of the academic world. They will find themselves teaching others instead of improving their own grades.

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

Similar to Taurus, the emotional Cancer has a tendency to get stuck in the old ways whenever they do something. Cancers retain what they learn best when they are emotionally stable. They are one of the zodiac signs that are good with memorisation, so they can cram easily for a test.

Leo (July 23 to Aug. 22)

Leos can be impatient and hard to motivate but they also have a competitive streak. They need to be at the centre of attention all the time, even in class. This is advantageous for teachers, as Leos work well with praise.

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)

Virgos are the teacher’s pet for a good reason — they have impeccable organisational skills. They are fast learners who don’t need an extra push to be interested in academics in general. A word of caution, though — without that checklist and organised study space, Virgos can get turned off and end up not studying at all.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

Libras balance working hard and playing hard really well. Just like Virgos, they are organised people and can have a knack for mastering a wide range of subjects. Their downfall is that they cannot focus on one thing at a time. Their need to know as much as they can is the main obstacle they must overcome if they want to gain mastery in any course.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)

What a Scorpio wants, a Scorpio gets. Their ability to concentrate on one thing at a time is what makes them good at certain subjects. The drawback? They get too good at one subject but leave the rest behind. Just like Aries, they flourish in subjects that they like best but falter when it comes to subjects they don’t like.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Out of the 12 zodiac signs, Sagittarius are the experts of daydreaming. They are also master procrastinators. While they have the ability to accomplish some things they dream of achieving but not all of them at once. However, they are natural explorers thanks to Jupiter, so it won’t be hard to get them interested in something new.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)

If there is competition, that’s where you will find your fellow Capricorns. They care more about outdoing others than attending to their own skills and development. The pros of this behaviour are that it is very easy to manipulate a Capricorn into taking their studies seriously. Their career goals are valuable to them, so as soon as you remind them that their grades will affect their future plans, they run straight to the library.

Aquarius (Jan. 20  to Feb. 18)

The creative, typically introverted Aquarian strives for freedom in all aspects of their life — strict routines and adhering to study plans don’t work well for them. They are unconventional as well as erratic and so are their study sessions. They only do their best when it’s perfectly disorganised with just a dash of chaos.

Pisces (Feb. 19 to March 20)

Pisces takes second place when it comes to procrastinating but they make up for lost time quite easily by studying hard right before an important exam. Pisces can’t stand not giving it their all, which is why they dedicate themselves to their studies when they can.
