A great educational experience empowers you to think bigger, aim higher, and grow with confidence. This idea comes to life at the Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) in New Zealand. Here, you gain the experience you need and the support to succeed, whether you want to break into your chosen career or change direction in life.
What makes EIT so effective in doing this is how teaching is closely connected to each lecturer’s research. This means every class you attend is informed by the latest knowledge and research in their field of expertise.
Equally important is the support you receive, both in and beyond the classroom. EIT’s lecturers are dedicated to supporting you throughout your studies, complemented by access to academic learning services covering study planning, academic writing, learning strategies, and mathematical and study skills. International Student Support Officers provide one-to-one advice and resources, ensuring you have the tools and guidance to succeed, grow, and thrive
“EIT offered a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that made me feel at home from my very first day,” says Pilana Vithanage Amila Prasad Kumarasiri, a Master of Applied Management graduate. “There was a strong sense of community, and lecturers were always approachable, encouraging us to share our diverse perspectives.”

Postgraduate programmes that provide real skills, real impact
EIT’s wide range of postgraduate programmes, especially in business and tech, helps professionals build on their existing knowledge while developing new skills that match industry needs and employer expectations.
One standout programme is the Master of Applied Management. Designed for those who want to advance as strategic business leaders, it strengthens expertise in areas such as consultancy, corporate planning, and sustainable business.
For Kumarasiri, the mix of theory and practice was impactful. “In subjects like Digital Marketing and Advanced Strategic Marketing, we didn’t just learn concepts, we applied them through case studies of both New Zealand companies and international brands,” he says.
This experience gave him the confidence and practical tools he needed to grow in his career. Even before receiving his results, he secured a role as Supply and Implementation Manager at Deane Apparel New Zealand, one of the country’s leading suppliers of uniforms and workwear.
If you’re more interested in the technology side of business, the Digital Business programme can prepare you to manage and lead digital transformation. You’ll develop a management perspective on emerging technologies and learn how to harness digital tools to drive innovation.
Subjects like Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Leadership, Cloud-Based IT Solutions, and Cybersecurity in the Enterprise make learning both relevant and engaging. “We learned concepts while working on practical assignments that reflected real business challenges,” says Mary Grace Sabas Pantisma, Master of Digital Business Class of 2025. “In one paper, we developed a digital product, studied marketing strategies and leadership styles, and explored cloud computing and cybersecurity integration.”

For those drawn to operations and logistics, the Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme readies you for a fast-evolving industry shaped by technology and artificial intelligence. You’ll build critical-thinking skills and explore topics such as Inventory and Warehouse Management, Transportation and Distribution, Strategic Procurement, and International Supply Chain Management. These will equip you for roles like inventory specialist, materials planner, or production coordinator.
If your passion lies in technology, the Master of Information Technology (MIT) programme allows you to apply theory through case studies, simulations, and real-world projects. You can choose a coursework, industry-integrated, or research pathway depending on your career goals. “The projects were very impactful as they gave me real-world experience,” says Resmitha Ravidasan, MIT Class of 2024. “The faculty mentors were also very supportive and helped me build confidence in my technical skills.”
EIT graduates secure roles aligned to their fields of study
No matter which programme you choose or whether you study at EIT’s Hawke’s Bay or Auckland campus, you’ll be supported to gain the confidence, networks, and practical understanding you need to succeed in New Zealand’s job market. Students benefit from career development opportunities including employability-enhancing interactive workshops, specialised coaching, volunteering programmes, and job seminars. Sessions like “Living in New Zealand” help you feel prepared for both work and life here. And as employers recognise EIT’s reputation, they value its graduates, which is why many students, like Kumarasiri, secure jobs even before graduation.
For Ravidasan, completing the MIT programme opened new doors. She recently joined the Auckland Council as an ICT graduate after attending EIT’s career workshops. These sessions helped improve her CV, prepare for interviews, and better understand New Zealand’s job market. “EIT helped me strengthen my technical and communication skills, gain research experience, and improve my confidence,” she says. “These factors helped me stand out during job applications and interviews.”
Pantisma shares a similar story. While studying, she worked part-time as a Housekeeping Supervisor at The Art Deco Masonic Hotel in Napier. After graduation, she was promoted to Housekeeping Manager at the same hotel. She credits her success to EIT’s focus on applied learning. “EIT has empowered me with the skills, both practical business knowledge and digital expertise, that are relevant in today’s job market,” she says. “It gave me the confidence to advance in my career through real-world learning in areas like leadership, technology integration, and process improvement.”
