At Saint Joseph’s University, you will find the Haub School of Business, renowned for its innovative approach to business education. Located in the suburbs of Philadelphia and close to New York City and Washington, D.C., this is where graduates benefit from the school’s proximity to over a dozen Fortune 500 companies, major sports teams, global corporate headquarters, and non-profit organisations. You’ll be near many opportunities for internships, networking, and real-world learning experiences.
But what truly distinguishes the school is its commitment to business ethics and sustainability. Through initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it ensures faculty and staff are highly engaged in using business towards social good.
For instance, the Arrupe Centre infuses ethics into the teaching and research agendas of the Haub School of Business’s faculty, students, staff, and alumni. Programmes empower students to make careful, sustained, and critical reflections on ethical issues and prepare them to use that reflection in their business decision-making.
In 2015, the centre conducted a lighting audit in Mandeville Hall in collaboration with R World Energy Solutions to find out how it could reduce its energy consumption. It collected data on the business school (electrical, architectural, mechanical plans, energy bills, etc.) since it opened and noted the number of lights in each room, which kind of lights were in the room, how many of each kind there were, how many lightbulbs were in each fixture for each kind of light, and what we planned on replacing each light with. These data were ultimately presented to the Pedro Arrupe Board in April 2016.
“The combination of rigorous academic preparation, specialised industry skills, and a focus on the common good continues to set Saint Joseph’s business education apart,” says Joseph A. DiAngelo, dean of Haub School of Business.
Renowned master’s programmes
Programmes here are recognised nationally and globally, with AACSB accreditation in business and accounting. The school was recently named among Princeton Review’s Best Business Schools and its graduate programmes often rank highly in US News & World Report league tables. One of them is the Master of Business Administration (MBA), a top-ranked programme by US News & World Report, CEO Magazine and 44th best online MBA program in Fortune Education.
Catering to working professionals, the programme is designed to be flexible and affordable. You can choose to study online or on campus or opt for a mix of both. You can earn individual certificates or stack two certificates onto your core module as well. It’s an approach that works. As many as 84% of students said the programme has helped them improve their salary potential and professional recognition. Haub is ranked in the top 20 for US News’s Online MBA programme specialised categories in business analytics, finance, general management and marketing, which are based on factors such as student engagement, faculty credentials, student excellence, services and technology, and more.
Another standout programme offered by the school is the Master of Science in Business Intelligence & Analytics (MSBIA). Ranked #30 by US News & World Report, yhe programme sets you up to enhance organisational performance by using data to develop opportunities, gain competitive advantages, identify effective strategies, and improve decision-making. By joining the programme, you will develop analytical skills and work with real data — both of which will give you a crucial edge as a graduate.
Similar to the MBA, it is designed to accommodate both working professionals and recent graduates seeking to advance or change their career paths. You can take courses online, on-campus, or in a combination of both.
Stackable specialty certificates
You can choose from a wide range of graduate certificates, which include novel options like Data Science and Ethical Coaching in Sports along with traditional disciplines like finance, accounting, human resources, and analytics. Aspiring to become a leader in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and other health-related organisations? You can take the healthcare management certificate programme to master the best practices and new perspectives in healthcare. Upon completion, which usually takes between six to 12 months, you can stack it as part of your Haub MBA or use it as a standalone qualification. Either way, you’ll have a compelling credential to add to your resume.
Like its master’s programmes, these programmes have small-sized classes comprising peer professionals and are taught by industry experts. This lets you maximise your lecturer’s experience and knowledge — for instance, healthcare management certificate students can go in-depth on topics such as strategy, policy, and pricing in relation to healthcare management.
