Nestled in vibrant Saint Louis, Missouri, Chaminade College Preparatory School is an independent Catholic school for young men in grades six through twelve. At its beautiful 55-acre campus, boys prepare to become the men the world needs them to be. They strive for intellectual growth, as well as spiritual, emotional, and physical development.
It’s a foundation that sets them up for the next step in their life. Over 99% of Chaminade graduates go to college or university. Later, they achieve various forms of success — and inspire their younger classmates to do the same.
What’s the school’s secret? Below we dive into the three reasons why Chaminade has been a top choice from parents all over the world since its founding in 1910:
Rigorous curriculum
There are typically 17 students in any class. It’s small by design to allow teachers to support various learning styles — and getting students to achieve more.
Advanced Placement courses let students tackle college-level work while still in high school and earn college credit and placement. Chaminade students warm up for this from middle school itself, by honing pre-Advanced Placement (AP) skills such as critical thinking and reasoning.
In high school, they’re set to take on the 28 AP classes and 120 Dual University Credit courses offered through the PACE Programme, taught by authorised Chaminade Adjunct University Instructors for partner universities.
This gives them an introduction to college-level expectations and lets them earn more than 40 college credits while in high school. This means that they are one step ahead of their peers by the time they step foot in university and can save their families around US$50,000 to US$60,000 in university fees. In the time it takes most students to earn their bachelor’s degree, PACE students can go on a gap year, double major, or even earn a master’s degree.
Strong support system
Every Chaminade student has a team to help him achieve his best. They have teachers who understand that learning has to be active, interactive and experiential. They use diverse learning styles, tailored to each young man. The Academic Support Programme provides extra help to those who may need it through an Academic Lab, an After School Academic Programme, Study Skills Support and a Writing Lab.
This comprehensive approach is extended to academic and guidance counsellors who work directly together with students on any issue they may face.

Pastoral care at Chaminade is made up of a collaborative effort between House Mentors, parents, Resident Director, Coaches and other student advisors and learning consultants. College Counsellors are also available to work with families on individualised programmes to develop college goals, establish timelines, and complete applications.
At every step of the way, College Counsellors are always there for the students and parents. To plan for the college admission process, there are before and after school appointments, academic labs, evening appointments (as needed) and communication via email over weekends and breaks.
Technologically equipped and an extensive range of extracurriculars
At Chaminade, students have access to some of the latest technology that prepare them for the perks and challenges of the digital age. Integrated into the curriculum, these edtech create lots of opportunities to learn, create and explore.
Thanks to the implementation of such technology, teachers can move seamlessly between a variety of instructional activities without the need to hook up a computer. Forget traditional projectors, lessons are dynamic in classrooms with the use of Promethean Boards with built-in Android operating systems, among others.
Other facilities include the ZSpace lab which features 24-inch flat-screen computers with immersive 3D technology. Students get to explore their curriculum in an interactive manner such as dissecting a human brain or exploring the inside of a volcano.
More concrete lessons that help children become good adults — and burnish their college applications — can be found in Chaminade’s wide range of extracurricular activities. There are over 70 athletic teams across 19 varsity sports and 45 clubs and activities, including Model United Nations, math and the Marianist Life Community.
These do more than just keep kids busy once the school day ends. Taking place within campus and in the outside world, these activities are arguably the best ways for students to learn what it takes to become good sportsmen, good leaders and good citizens — all while nurturing individual interests.
