Learning and academic growth doesn’t end with the start of summer — at Choate Rosemary Hall, you’ll find that minds are always open. For over 100 years, Choate has hosted middle and high schoolers in innovative and engaging summer programmes each June and July.
While pursuing their interests, Choate Summer Programmes students have access to state-of-the-art facilities on a sprawling 458-acre campus. The charming backdrop of a quintessential New England town in proximity to New York and Boston allows students to explore with the guided independence only found at boarding schools.
This summer, over 100 academic offerings will run in various sessions from June 26 to July 29, 2022, attracting over 500 enrolled students across over 30 different countries around the world. Students are guided in their coursework by experienced, world-class teachers in small classes with like-minded peers. Choate Summer Programmes is a great way to quench your intellectual thirst, meet new friends and surge ahead into the next academic year.

Choate Summer Programmes offers a variety of programmes and workshops. The Academic Enrichment Programme, offered to middle and high school students, allows students age 12 to 17 to choose from exciting courses in various academic areas. This way, you can decide what you want to do — all whilst sharpening your academic prowess over the summer break.
Students choose to take five-week or two-week courses or workshops such as Digital Filmmaking, Women in America: An Introduction to Women’s Studies, Creative Writing, Introduction to Oceanography, and Introduction to Robotics. Each course is tailor-made to ensure you have the tools you need to pursue your creativity, curiosity, and passion for discovery.
Many of these courses provide focused content specialisation within a short period of time — as seen in Immersion Geometry, a high school course that covers the standard year-long subject curriculum in just five weeks. The English Language Institute also offers a five-week programme that’s ideal for students who have studied English for at least three years and seek to enhance their language skills. Mix and match your studies according to your interests, and reap the results before you’re set to return to school in autumn.
Additionally, the Theatre Arts Institute offers a four-week programme for middle and high school students to enhance their learning of theatre through daily classes in acting, singing, dance, set and costume design, and playwriting.

The John F. Kennedy ’35 Institute in Government is ideal for high school students interested in public policy, and includes a trip to Washington, DC. It’s a unique pre-university course solely offered at Choate, proving its commitment to providing transformational educational experiences for its students.
