She’s embraced her time on campus, having won the Student Council election, joined the Choate for Women Club, and rowed for the crew team. She says, “Before attending Choate, I didn’t know about the many opportunities presented to me here, things I never even thought I could do. Everyone here is positive and generous, and their excitement gives me the courage to try new things.”

Choate understands that for young people feeling part of a community is every bit as important as a student’s individual journey. Committed to the development of character, integrity, respect, and compassion are modeled by students, faculty, staff and alumni, and are taught through a curriculum that recognizes the importance of being an inquisitive student and a moral and ethical citizen.
Opportunities to explore different perspectives extend into all areas of campus life. Celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion is foundational to the curriculum, student life and campus programming. Throughout the year, students participate in Community Conversations, where Choate community members informally share personal perspectives on a multitude of issues surrounding individual identity.

Signature Programs and Unparalleled Facilities
Choate’s Signature Programs give students the chance to explore specialized topics of interest in more depth. Students with a strong background in the visual or performing arts, dance, music, or theater will feel at home in the robust Arts ConcentrationProgram. The John F. Kennedy Program in Government and Public Service allows students to combine their interest in government, politics, and public service. Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies, Term Abroad, the Directed Study Program and the Science Research Program offer chances for students to research relevant topics that interest them and develop their intellectual voice early in their academic career.
All students benefit from Choate’s state-of-the art facilities. Whether they’re looking for a place to create, study, or unwind, students have access to a campus designed with their needs in mind.
The Kohler Environmental Center (KEC) is just one example. The KEC is home to the Environmental Immersion Program, a year-long residential signature program where students take part in multidisciplinary research focused on sustainability and preserving the natural environment. They pursue their own research in the KEC’s three working laboratories, two classrooms and a greenhouse while living and learning in a net zero energy, LEED platinum facility poised on the edge of 200 protected acres.

Technology and Innovation
Choate believes in the union of tradition and innovation, relying on the foundations that have built the school while looking to foster the skills students need in an ever-changing world. All Choate students and teachers use the latest generation Apple iPads and Apple Pencils providing a uniform, yet flexible digital tool for use in the classroom and beyond.
Henry, Class of 2022, appreciates the access to and versatile use of technology platforms. “Through your iPad or computer, you have free access to Google and Microsoft softwares, as well as many humanities sources, library resources, arts apps and websites, and even science software. Choate really does supply a student with anything they need to explore their interests in great depth.”
