VIDEO: Joshua takes on Beijing…again

Five years ago, Joshua Wong stood up to the powers-that-be to oppose the Communist Party-sanctioned “patriotic” education in Hong Kong’s public schools. Wong and his student activist group, Scholarism, won.

But that wasn’t the end of it. In 2014, he became the face of the Umbrella Movement, spurring tens of thousands to take to the streets of Hong Kong in 79 days of protest to demand universal voting rights.

“What we really hope to do is just demand freedom of mind and freedom of speech,” Wong said in the Netflix documentary Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower.

“I will never stop until Hong Kong is Hong Kong again.”

Any revolutionary will tell you the road to freedom is long, and Wong is back in the news again for another fight against Beijing.
