The world is your oyster, but financing your studies can be an uphill battle. When financial woes get in the way, get resourceful — whether you’re looking to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, there are several scholarships for international students available to help you reach your goal.

Scholarship amounts may vary, but big or small, every dollar received counts. 

Here are some scholarships that you can still apply for to study at two respected universities in the UK and China:

University of Sussex

Undergraduate Scholarships

Sussex Excellence Scholarship (2020)

Successful applicants of this scholarship will receive £2,000 cash maintenance during their first year of study, disbursed in two identical payments of £1,000.

Professor Colin Eaborn Chemistry Scholarship (2020)

Offered by the Chemistry Department, this scholarship is for students who have achieved excellent academic results prior to joining the university, and who maintain academic excellence throughout their chemistry degree.

Amount: Up to £2,000 for BSc students and up to £3,000 for MChem students
Who can apply: The award is available to individuals from these specific countries.
Deadline: 30 September 2020 23:59 (GMT)

Chancellor’s International Scholarship (2020)

There are 25 scholarships available for international postgraduate applicants who can demonstrate academic excellence.

To be considered, applicants will need to demonstrate excellent grades in their most recent qualification (ie. a first class degree if you are studying in the UK). Applicants do not need to have completed their qualification as the university can make conditional scholarship offers.

Amount: 50 percent tuition fee reduction
Who can apply: International students
Deadline: 1 May 2020 23:59 (GMT)

Chancellor’s Master’s Scholarship (2020)

This scholarship is available for Master’s applicants that have, or expect to achieve a first class UK Bachelor’s degree. There are only 100 scholarships available, so be prepared for a competitive application process.

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must also have applied and received an offer for a full-time, eligible Master’s degree at Sussex starting in September 2020, and submit a separate scholarship application after you have applied for your Master;s. 

Amount: £3,000 awarded as a tuition fee reduction
Who can apply: International students
Deadline: 1 August 2020 23:59 (GMT)

Cate Haste Scholarship in Media and Film (2020)

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must have accepted an offer to study in one of the following courses for September 2020 entry: Filmmaking MA or Journalism and Documentary Practice MA.

Who can apply: International students
Deadline: 1 July 2020 23:59 (GMT)

Tsinghua University

The scholarship gives talented students the coveted opportunity to develop their leadership skills and professional networks through a one-year Master’s degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing, which is ranked 23rd in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020.

Applicants who are currently enroled in any undergraduate degree programme must be on track to successfully complete all degree requirements by August 1 of their enrolment year. 

Successful applicants will pursue a Master in Global Affairs, working with an academic advisor to design an academic plan that best suits his or her academic and professional goals
