Preparing Humanities and Social Sciences graduates for the future of work

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) focuses on transforming education and lives. With this aim, the school has been able to rank highly. The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 named it 11th in the UK for Student Experience in Education and seventh in the UK for Teaching Quality for Education. In the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey 2023, UWTSD ranked 20th in the UK for satisfaction with Assessment and Feedback.

Many of its humanities and social science programmes specifically benefit from the university’s many years of expertise, and, especially in the case of areas like Medieval Studies, the location is ideal for research. 


Picking the right UWTSD programme

The Centre of Humanities & Social Sciences USWTSD Master's programmes can be completed in one-year full time or two-years part-time.

Christian Theology (MTh)

Asking some of the most significant questions about humanity, theology helps us understand our everyday lives better. UWTSD students can explore all areas of theology, including historical theology, hermeneutics and textual interpretation, to issues of culture and ethics.

Biblical Interpretation (MA)

UWTSD has a great tradition of specialist training in Biblical Studies, with the department’s staff often producing groundbreaking biblical research, nationally and internationally. Led by these experts, this programme examines the literature and world of the Bible through its historical and contemporary lenses.

Interfaith Studies (MA)

This fascinating area of study looks into the inner nature of religious faiths and beliefs and how they interact. This synergy colours our everyday world, influencing society socially, politically, and philosophically. The programme balances individual faiths as well as the social aspect of religious belief.

Medieval Studies (MA)

A popular Masters degree programme at UWTSD, this programme draws on a well-established research and teaching about the Medieval period. Boasting a wide interdisciplinary approach, students are able to engage with the Medieval period through its history, literature, archaeology, and Celtic studies.

Celtic Studies (MA)

This Master’s programme benefits from UWTSD’s culture and location in Wales, as well as the rich historical tradition of our surroundings. Student explore the deep roots of Celtic tradition through its history, literature, and cultural heritage.

Latin (MA, PG Dip, PG Cert)

Curated for those who want to learn Latin at an advanced level and explore their research on an author or authors, Latin at UWTSD can be studied as an MA, PG Diploma or PG Certificate. Students may start at all levels, from beginners to advanced, depending on their existing qualifications and knowledge.

Greek (MA, PG Dip, PG Cert)

If the Ancient Greek language and literature excite you, this programme is for you. Students may take a test to assess their level correctly, with complete beginners also welcome. UWTSD’s degree in Greek can provide an internationally recognised qualification for the language.

Helping you build towards a career

According to the Graduate Outcomes Survey 2019/20, 93% of UWTSD graduates got a job or went on to study further within 15 months of completing their studies. With the help of the Student Careers Service, UWTSD students find the career pathway that best suits their needs and interests. Services include one-on-one appointments and drop-in sessions where you can discuss your strengths and skills, as well as insight into how to craft an effective CV, sharpen your interview skills, write personal statements and more. 


From work experience opportunities to paid placements and part-time jobs, UWTSD helps students get the necessary experiences while working for their degree. Careers Service also organises employer webinars and career fairs. Besides chatting with career advisors, students can access the online platform MyCareer. Specialist tools, such as a jobs board, career planner, automated CV360 checker, and Interview 360, offer more help to get hired at their chosen organisations.
