Level up your AI ambitions at the University of Toronto

With the AI market projected to balloon from US$214 billion in 2024 to US$1.339 trillion by 2030, the question isn’t whether AI will reshape productivity, but how fast you can adapt to stay ahead. At the University of Toronto, that future is already being built. Its researchers dissect AI from all angles — whether it poses an existential threat, to whether it reinforces underlying biases, discrimination, and inequities, to how generative AI can transform organisational processes. Faculty and alumni have been appointed to Canada’s AI Strategy Task Force and the school has received $42.5 million in federal investment for AI infrastructure. Few institutions understand the stakes, or the opportunities, quite like they do.

So, if you’re hoping to move from “AI user” to “AI shaper,” the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto offers a compelling onramp. Ranked third worldwide for AI by the latest Shanghai subject ranking, the university is a key leader in developing the potentially revolutionary technology. Last December, the university matched Google’s US$10 million support to establish the Hinton Chair in Artificial Intelligence at the university, enabling the recruitment of another brilliant, internationally recognised AI expert to make profound contributions to the field.

The Rotman School is central to this thriving AI ecosystem on campus – with no shortage of developments of its own. In January 2026, it launched the Master of Management Analytics – AI for Business Professionals (MMA-AI). Delivered over 15 months, this hybrid programme is ideal for working professionals looking to become a driver of innovation in their organisations.

Here, you’ll build a bridge between two worlds: cutting-edge AI and analytics tools, as well as business strategy. Courses include “Machine Learning Analytics,” “Applications of Large Language Models,” and “Leadership in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” – see the full list here. You’ll prepare throughout all terms for the Management Analytics Practicum, where you’ll apply all you’ve learned to a high-stakes, real-world business problem in the last term.

There’s no need to hit pause on your career as you learn new skills and expand your network of like-minded professionals. With the MMA-AI, you’ll study online after work two days a week and attend four in-person intensive modules of five to seven days each on campus.

This is how you build confidence and agility as you lead your organisation through the digital era. If the MMA-AI programme isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, the Rotman School offers several AI-based programmes to advance your career.

Suppose you’re looking to study full-time and specialise in AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics specifically, then the Master of Management Analytics is exactly what you’re looking for. This programme spans 11 months of academic study plus a four-month practicum experience, where you’ll gain even more advanced analytic and communication skills that organisations want and need.

Senior leader within your organisation and don’t have time to pursue a full degree programme? Consider short Executive Programmes instead, many of which cover AI-related topics, such as “Generative AI and Organisational Transformation” or “Healthcare Transformation in the Age of AI.” Taking place in the span of a few days, these courses are key to unlocking new career opportunities without an extended time commitment.
