Becoming a public health professional means forging a career around protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. How? By influencing policy, encouraging equal opportunities, and remaining at the forefront of informing, educating, and empowering communities about public health challenges. It’s no small feat — public health encompasses everything from outbreaks of infectious diseases like Ebola and COVID-19 to worker safety and advising health policy to addressing racial inequities in health.

There’s plenty of ground to cover. While populations are still responding and recovering from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, other public health priorities have stayed critical — think of food systems, environmental justice and air quality, failure of water systems, and access to healthcare.
