Great news if you’re a student in India who is looking for Apple discounts for students.
The tech giant is back with its annual education discount programme — “Back to School” — where current and new students, teachers and staff at Indian universities can enjoy great deals on a line of Apple products. Students can save up to 10,000 Indian rupees on their products.
Who’s eligible for the discount?
Apple’s website notes that the following individuals are eligible to purchase from the Apple Store for Education:
- Any employee of a public or private education institution in India is eligible.
- Students attending or accepted into a tertiary education institution in India are eligible to purchase.
- Parents purchasing on behalf of their child, who is a student currently attending or accepted into a public or private tertiary education institution in India.
The Back to School promotion starts on June 24 and ends on Sept. 22, 2022. Your eligibility for a discount depends on whether UNiDAYS — the platform Apple uses to verify students — recognises your institution.

Apple discounts for students: What to look out for
The price of the MacBook Air M1 starts from 89,999 Indian rupees, which is nearly Rs 10,000 cheaper than the initial cost of Rs 99,900. Although this is an older variant, this Apple laptop is more than capable of handling the needs of a university student due to its M1 chip. This laptop also has a base storage of 256 GB.
If you can wait till July, the MacBook Air M2 will be available at a discounted price of Rs109,900. The M2 chip improves this MacBook in every aspect — from storage space, processing speed and longer battery life.
The 13-inch, 14-inch and 16-inch have a price tag of Rs119,900, Rs 175,410 and Rs 215,910 (all prices are inclusive of the education discount). While the MacBook Pro 13-inch has the M2 chip, the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBookPro house an M1 Pro chip — perfect for students studying design, art or medicine that require more processing power for their laptops.
If you are looking for a home setup, the iMac will be available at Rs 107,910. It is slightly cheaper than getting a MacBook Pro and has an M1 processor.

According to the Economic Times, this promotion is only available for the iPad Air 5th Gen, iPad Pro 11-inch 3rd Gen and 12.9-inch 5th Gen.
With any purchase of a Mac or Ipad, students can claim an Air Pods (Third Generation) or Air Pods Pro at a discounted price.
The third-generation Air Pods will cost Rs 6,400, and Air Pods Pro will cost Rs 12,200. The website’s fine print provides that customers can only claim one pair of Air Pods by purchasing a Mac or Ipad at selected stores.
Students can purchase an Apple Pencil, a Smart Keyboard, cases and covers at a discounted rate during the promotional period to supplement any Mac or Ipads they have brought.
Apple Care Plus
Students can enjoy a 20% discount for this care package which offers accidental damage protection on top of an extended warranty. This benefit will not apply to devices purchased outside the promotional period, as stated in the fine print of Apple’s website.
Apple Music Student subscription
Apple’s music service will be available at a discounted monthly rate. The plan also includes free access to Apple TV Plus, which will end when the Apple Music Student subscription expires.
