All masters students have the chance to participate in a moot court during their studies. The moot court programme is sponsored and supported by international law firm Clifford Chance. Through Luxembourg’s LL.M.s, there’s also the chance to take part in a Consumer Law Clinic, where students are coached by teachers and professionals from the Luxembourg Bar Association to treat cases submitted by members of the public. This exposure to real-life cases will give you invaluable practical experience, while you also offer a service to the community at large.

Links to the legal profession

A young and dynamic university, Uni.lu has forged close contacts with the legal profession in Luxembourg. This allows you to benefit from teaching by judges and advocate generals from the Court of Justice of the European Union as well as other legal professionals from the European institutions and the Luxembourg landscape.

LL.M. programmes are highly specialised, allowing you to pursue a niche within your field. Courses offer personalised teaching, with only 25 students on each programme. These specific study routes also contain a high level of experiential learning activities.

If you choose to study for a Master in European Union Law and Litigation, you’ll benefit from a partnership with the European Parliament, as well as real legal service members who teach in the programme. Five students in this programme are guaranteed to receive a paid internship placement in the Parliament’s legal service – an incredible networking and career opportunity.

With the European Union Law and Litigation, European Banking and Financial Law or European and International Tax Law masters programmes, you have access to a partnership with ESSEC Business School in France, complete with fast-track application for four students to pursue a second master’s programme (MSc in Management or Master in International Business Law and Management).

“In the very first weeks of the academic year, I had a workshop on how to improve my CV given by a professional recruiter,” says Sigrid Heirbrant who is studying for an LL.M. in Space, Communication and Media Law. She chose the university because she wanted an internationally-orientated degree with a specialisation in space law, seeing Luxembourg itself as the centre of Europe due to the presence of many nationalities and foreign companies.

Melting pot of cultures

Luxembourg is a melting pot of cultures, with a population made up of more than 45 percent foreign nationals, and three official languages – Luxembourgish, French and German – with a high level of English also spoken throughout.

This means both the university and its programmes are by nature, truly international. If you speak French and English, here you’ll be well placed, since courses are taught in both languages, offering an excellent opportunity to expand your skillset or learn a new language if you were not previously a francophone.
